Title: Final Escape
Synopsis: After the nightmare of the previous night and day, it's time for the final chapter of the great escape, and the need for ALL ties to Science Frontiers to be broken!
Heather O'Leary pulls the new SUV into the Ranch Driveway, and shuts off the engine. Same way she has driven the entire way home, rather zombie-like.
Martin Grace is mostly, for his own part, meandering. Kicking at stones, setting them rolling, then following them to set them rolling again. Not bored so much as just ... idle. Occasionally, he sips from a bottle of beer.
Elizabeth Maxwell is sitting next to Heather, but might as well be 9 lightyears away, for how silent Heather has been next to her, even as she looked on worriedly, and got her makeup and wig off. She's not happy either, her eyes squeezed closed.
Heather O'Leary slips out of the SUV, and proceeds rather stiffly towards the House. Nothing personal to Martin, but if he had her day, he would possibly be in the same shape. Working for Bates... who said it would be easy again?
Elizabeth Maxwell opens her eyes very slowly as Heather slips out, sighing and climbing out as well, to follow after Heather, not noticing anyone or anything else in the yard, at this point.
Martin Grace watches the ladies come, and watches the ladies go. "Hello, ladies," he says. "Goodbye, ladies."
Heather O'Leary stops, hearing a voice. She sees someone that is not Elizabeth, who has no clue what is going on, and moves to him. For some reason, she hugs Martin, and says softly, "Martin.... good to see you."
Martin Grace is hugged, and, well, frankly, is surprised. "Uh?" is his sparkling reply.
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "Ryan here... I have something that you guys might want to know about."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head slightly, resting her head on Martin's shoulders. "Nothing... just needed that." Yes, she is afraid to touch Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Maxwell stops short as she watches Heather hug Martin, a tear starting to form, as she watches that.
Martin Grace says, "Uh," because it worked so well the first time. By reflex, he pats Heather on the back. "Mind if I ask what's going on to prompt this? I mean, you know."
Heather O'Leary bites her lip, and closes her eyes, "I... I had to turn Juliet and Donovan into Bates.... He is... torturing them." She can't say what really is going on... not yet.
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Yes? What would that be?"
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs, pulling her radio out, while watching that.
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "Something is up... Call was put out on Mike and Juliet... Reported them as being arrested too. You guys know anything about it? Apparently someone has tampered with it. I am thinking Bates since he is the only that can think of that could have taken them someplace other than where they are supposed to be if they committed a crime... LA prisons or holding cells."
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "We're aware of this. Yes, it was Bates. Or rather, his chief of security, forced to by circumstance. We're working on it."
Martin Grace says, "You ... had ... to ..." He shakes his head, something between a double-take and shock, "*what*?!?"
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "...Say what?"
Tears roll down Heather's face, "Julie and Tyler... they convinced me to go to work for Bates..."
Martin Grace says, "They ... *what*?" Yeah, it's broken-record time. "What the hell are you talking about?"
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Julie's cover was blown, Heather's was about to be if she didn't produce them, so they went in. We're planning to break them out before anything too permanent happens to them. That's down Tyler's alley though."
Heather O'Leary just shakes her head, and collapses to the ground. "Never mind" comes her soft, almost broken-will sounding reply.
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "....This is exactly why I didn't want to get Heather involved with this." Sighs. "No one listens to me. Seriously. Either way... Anything I can do to help? Though I would prefer to keep MY cover if possible."
Elizabeth Maxwell blinks as Heather collapses, and sighs. "Martin... can you help get her to the bedroom? Very bad things happened today, she's not up to talking right now.
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Heather was involved directly by Bates, told to bring them in by midnight, and implying that she'd get killed and replaced like Chiang if she didn't."
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "They're being held inside Science Frontiers, unfortunately."
Martin Grace says, "No no no." He reaches down to grab her shoulder and yank her back up. "Damn it, this isn't time for a 'nevermind'." He looks back and forth between the two women. "If there was ever a time that was not for 'nevermind', this is that time. Someone had better the hell start making sense, because I'm damned tired of coming back after every few days of personal business to find things turning at right angles and the world going all Bizarro on me." He looks back to Heather. "Do not make me sling you over my shoulder like a sack of potatoes. You know I can, and it'll just demean both of us."
Heather O'Leary says softly, "I can't be any more demeaned, than being raped by Bates..."
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "And yet again, this is why I told her getting involved wasn't good. Freak show plus resistance members equals trouble. Is Heather about? How /she/ doing?"
Martin Grace grunts, but clearly does not agree. Nor does he yet follow through on the threat, but he looks like he's about to.
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Ryan? There are a lot of circumstances going on, and she is doing badly enough right now that I need to stop talking and tend to her."
Heather O'Leary says softly, "Screw Tyler... If he isn't around, we need to free them tonight..."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs at Martin. "Please... don't push the issue. Please." She follows behind Martin, nodding to Heather. "After what happened today, I'd tend to agree. You're not in any condition to do anything though..."
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "...Hey... just /trying/ to figure out what going on. If you need me, I can be there. If you don't, I'll find something else to do. That easy."
<ResRadio> Heather O'Leary says, "Ryan... come... please?"
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "We do need you. After events previously today, we're in a spot where we have to attack and get them out tonight."
ATTRIBUTE CHECK: NAME: Heather O'Leary ATTRIBUTE: Willpower (Hard) SUCCESS
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers sighs. "Right. I'll be there soon."
Heather O'Leary's body shakes, but the tears stop. She forces herself to stand up, "Tyler, or no Tyler, we go in... tonight... Or you guys do. I don't care if Bates raped me... Raped Julie... I'll be fine..." Well, until her next breakdown.
<ResRadio> Heather O'Leary says, "Angel, where are you and Alexis? We need you... Now."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs. "We do. You stay here. I should probably stay with you, but we'll need all personnel for the attack.
Martin Grace growls, but otherwise says nothing.
Ham Tyler walks up to the group, "Elizabeth... She has to go back in. We need her to get the Security people moved."
Lock and load. Pulling into the yard, a familiar Jetta turns with a sudden stop. Ryan is here. He currently is dressed in jean shorts and a simple red t-shirt, but considering he has his gym bag with him, he won't be like that for long. In his hand though... Is a bear. A little stuff bear with a 'Feel Better Soon' thing. He didn't know what was wrong with Heather, but well, he figured as he was at the checkout line of the 7-11 (where he used the bathroom to make his radio call), he might as well get it. Putting the bag down, he just unzips it, listening to the people as he gets set up for killing stuff.
Elizabeth Maxwell glances to Tyler. "She's not in a condition to do anything, much less that. She'll need to be taken care of the whole way." She glances to Martin and sighs then. "She's not kidding. Don't push."
<ResRadio> Angelica says, "I'm here..."
Heather O'Leary says softly to Elizabeth, "I have to..."
Ham Tyler nods to Heather, knowing she can handle it. Well, hoping she can, "The entire plan revolves around her getting us a pretty clear path, while making it look like she is worried about us coming in from the ground floor. No one else can get the Guards rearranged." He sighs, and fails to mention, in front of everyone else, the capper of the plan. Him shooting Heather, making it look like he is trying to kill her.
<ResRadio> Alexis Ayala says, "What's going on?"
<ResRadio> Ham Tyler says, "Lets just say... We have a mission, and we have to do it tonight."
<ResRadio> Ryan Rivers says, "Which is just like most mission nights."
Elizabeth Maxwell wraps her arms around Heather and hugs her tightly, instantly, at hearing that. "If you're sure..." She glances to Tyler. "Ham? Remember what I was talking about last night? We'll need both of them. And after today, tonight has to be the absolute last time that Heather steps onto Science Frontiers."
Martin Grace says, "God *damn* it!" in an explosion of force, and lets go of Heather, shoving away, barreling a few paces off before whirling around. "What the *hell* is wrong with you people that you assume that nobody else is serious about anything but you, or has an opinion that matters on anything but you? I may not have a service academy education, or a slip of paper from some CIA spook farm, but I'm *god-damned* tired of the way things are getting done around here! And the next person who says any-goddamned-thing else but 'Yes, Martin. You're right, Martin. We're sorry, Martin. Here's what's going on, Martin' had better goddamned well be saying it with a gun drawn on me, or they are going to lose at least one of the limbs God gave them. And if you don't think I'm serious as Hell about this, start thinking again!"
<ResRadio> Alexis Ayala says, "Much fun as usual."
Martin Grace looks, oh, yes, in fact, like he's about to beat the living crap out of someone.
Heather O'Leary reaches out to touch Martin's shoulder, "Martin... I'm sorry. Here is what is going on." She is going to try and diffuse the situation, "Julie and Tyler had a plan to get Bates of her back. Get Chiang killed, and me in as his replacement. It worked. Chiang is Dead, I am Head of Security at Science Frontiers. However, just a few days ago, Julie's cover was blown, and Bates ordered me to track them down..." She bites her lip, "Julie and Donovan wanted me to stay undercover, so I took them in... That was yesterday."
Martin Grace jerks back from Heather's touch -- oh, he's still boiling furious -- but he listens.
Ryan Rivers just pauses in the middle of putting on his jumpsuit over his clothes, blinking over at Martin. While he himself has had some... Times where he was annoyed with the Resistance, it was never like that, that is for sure. He just continues to get ready without saying a word. If the leadership always handle the missions, they can handle the problems that come when the missions go awry. ...But he got answers. He'll have to remember that. When in doubt, summon the rage of his Irish blood and all will be answered. Perhaps not the best lesson to be learned, but that's life for you.
Heather O'Leary's eyes close, "Today... Bates forced me to watch what he was doing to Julie and Mike... and than, participate..." She bites her lip, and finishes simply, "He raped me, then Julie... Now, we have to save those two... Whether I am freed from Bates' hands or not, those two need freedom... otherwise, they will die very slowly. Bates is even considering turning Mike over to Diana..."
Ham Tyler nods to Elizabeth, "That is up to her." He listens to what happens, and his face goes red, anger setting in.
Elizabeth Maxwell glances over to Ham. "Now that you've heard what happened to her, hear this. Bates told her to expect it to be a 'regular occurrence'. If she's shot and left there to look like she did her job, it could happen again."
Heather O'Leary says softly, "Than it happens again... I am not going to tell Julie that her experience was... not needed, because Bates is going to do what he did again.... How can I tell her I failed to keep her safe, I failed to stop him from hurting her, and now, it was for nothing?"
Martin Grace frowns, now, deeply. And shakes his head. He ratchets the volume back down now, but his tone is still sharp, angry: "Alright. But I have something to say before we run off on this fool's errand, and I'm going to be heard in this. Because I've said it before, and people have not listened. And then I'm never going to say this again, because if I have to, all the lot of you will ever see of me again is the back of my head when I walk away, or the back of my hand if you try to stop me." Still angry, he looks at each of them in turn. "I want everyone to acknowledge that they understand this before I speak my mind."
Ham Tyler nods slightly to Martin, "Say your piece."
The M16 Ryan was looking over during the explanation is dropped from his hands as Heather speaks, though thankfully he is able to grab it on the way down. His face is red, though like Ham, he doesn't say a word about it, just continuing on his work as he keeps a tight lid on his rage. "This is why I should have tried this... Unless he likes guys too," Ryan offers with a frown as he continues his work, just slinging his M16 and looking over his Desert Eagle. He just nods to Martin, not saying a word still.
Elizabeth Maxwell grabs Heather more tightly and shakes her own head. "NO. He already did it to you once. Fight. THINK! I will not let him devalue you again! Even if I have to stun you and drag you back myself. I don't care how devalued you may think you are after that, to just 'submit', but uhuh. This is way past that." She glances to Martin then. "Wha?"
Heather O'Leary just stares at the ground, in silence. She waits until after everyone else agrees and than, nods, slowly, just once. She feels really bad, and expects that someone is going to hate her, not sure who, but someone. Someone is going to blame her for this. "We'll discuss it later, Elizabeth... For now, listen to Martin... please?"
Martin Grace says, "I know I'm not the brightest guy we have. People poo-poo that when I say it, talking about how I have the kind of smarts that matter, but nobody stops to *think* about that. Other than Elizabeth, who has the excuse of not having been *alive* 4 years ago, I have the least education. No military service. No paramilitary training from the cops or The Company. I have learned everything I have needed to learn from you guys, and from the folks I ran with before you guys." He looks around to all of you. "So I'd really like to point out here that, with the exception of this guy" -- a gesture in Ryan's direction -- "that I don't think I really know, I'm probably the only one in this group that listens, that sticks to the plan every time, that doesn't change the plan at the drop of a hat, and that -- and I say this with all love and respect here, folks -- keeps his head on straight about what we're doing. I'm *really* sorry I'm not around as much as you all need, and I'll try to do better with that in the future ... but this is now the second or third time since I've been back that we've tried some feint about swapping and rescuing and swapping and rescuing, and you all act like it's the end of the world each time, and you all break down in tears, and nobody sticks to the goddamned plan." He looks at Heather. "This has to stop. You all want to be leaders? To make these freakin' decisions? Fine. Be leaders. Make decisions. But stop breaking down after making them. If you can't do that, you shouldn't be in charge. That's all I have to say."
Ham Tyler arches an eyebrow, "I doubt O'Leary broke down because of the plan... But other than that, you are right Martin."
Heather O'Leary takes a couple deep breaths, since Tyler is right, she broke down because of something much other than the fact that the plan is breaking down. Martin is also right, but she says softly, firmly, "Fine..." She looks at Liz, "Give me time to get back, change the Security Setup, and you guys come in when I call..." That was the plan from the beginning, such the plan remains, "Tyler... You *will* follow the plan to the letter."
Ryan Rivers maintains himself as the silent one, just nodding in respect to Martin as he moves toward the group. His sword, his rather odd final accessory, is strapped to his side, the opposite hip carrying the Desert Eagle. After slinging the M16 over his shoulder, he just being the bear over, who is barely bigger than his hand, trying to hand him over toward Heather despite the sour mood.
That done, Ryan looks toward everyone else, giving a look that would suggest impatience. He lets Martin be the voice of reason, considering he still is considered too green to be taken seriously. At least that is what he thinks the problem is.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs, and glances at Heather, glaring at Martin for the final comment. "The times Heather has broke down and cried about anything were 1) after being put through Diana's conversion chamber and have her mind scrambled, and 2) after an act heinous enough to shatter the life of ANY woman it happens to." She glares at Heather. "If you do not come back with us, I'm going to hunt you down through the entire building, to stun you and drag you back. Right before changing the fighter codes AGAIN and destroying every ground vehicle on this facility to keep you from trying to martyr yourself. And you can bet damned well that Julie will back me on it."
Heather O'Leary says softly, "If she does... she does. And I will return... otherwise, the plan must be followed through to the end."
Martin Grace just shakes his head at all this. "I give up."
Heather O'Leary smiles at Ryan, taking the little bear, and holding it in her hand. She looks at him and says, "Thank You." To Martin she reaches for him, "Martin, what do you want? We are trying to stick to the plan... or some of us are. What do you want? We can't afford to loose you."
Martin Grace says, "What I *want* is for all you folks to stop acting like we're all, each and every single one of us, so goddamned important that we're each one of us worth risking *everyone's* lives over. We're not. This is stupid, silly horsesh---" He stops there, leaving the final word unsaid, and just shakes his head. "What I want, Heather, is for everyone to understand that we really *are* all expendable, and while, yeah, it's nice to know we'll all save each other if need be, I'd somehow sleep better knowing that the folks I'm following into Hell on a regular basis keep sight of the idea that keeping ninety percent of us alive sometimes *will* mean letting ten percent of us die, and not acting like it's the agonized end of the world each time."
Ham Tyler arches an eyebrow, "So, you want us to let Julie and Donovan die?"
Ham Tyler shrugs, "Fine, I can live with that, if you can."
Alexis Ayala makes her way out of the barn, in her BDU's, ready for a mission.
Martin Grace says, "No." He shakes his head. "But I want to know -- no, screw that, I *need* to know -- that if we can't save them, we'll still be able to get up in the morning. I really need to know that, Tyler, because if I don't know that, then we're not a resistance. We're a goddamned choir playing at being a resistance, and screaming like babies because the other side is using the same real ammunition we are, and finally got lucky with a shot."
Elizabeth Maxwell shakes her head at Martin. "This isn't the same situation. The plan as it initially was written was to preserve Heather's cover as security head at Science Frontiers. Which not a SINGLE one of us in camp is going to allow, without getting kicked off this ranch by me, personally. Headfirst. Her being shot did not and does not need to be part of the plan. If she is not going to be their head of security any longer."
Ham Tyler nods to Martin, "If we fail... We fail. We'll move on."
Ryan Rivers just offers a firm nod, only able to give a weak smile in return to Heather's. The cop turned resistance soldier looks toward Martin and offers a nod in agreement. He doesn't like the thinking, but he knows that this is war. It is just the way it has to be done.
Martin Grace says, "Liz, you're not getting it, you're proving my point with each attempt to argue, and I'm tired of fighting about it. I've said my piece. I won't say it again. I'm in tonight because covering you all is what I signed up for, but I'm really damned tired of two-thirds of us being important enough to make decisions, but not smart enough to coordinate those decisions with each other, then dragging everyone else in to clean up the mess afterwards. You don't want to hear this, and I don't want to say it, but if you *make* me argue the conversion, and the rape, I will, and you won't like what I have to say. So let's just go do this, but bear what I said in mind."
Heather O'Leary just says, "Lets do this, and argue the points Later.... I'll get to Science Frontiers..." She moves towards her new SUV.
Alexis Ayala stands for a few moments, just taking some time to absorb everything and think on it..."
Martin Grace sighs. "I'll go fetch Lucille. Unless she'd be too awkward for this, in which case I suppose a shotgun will do."
Elizabeth Maxwell glances to Martin. "If you're careful with her. We're gonna be inside a building..."
Ham Tyler looks thoughtful, "Probably should go with the Shotgun, tonight. We shouldn't have any Lizards to go against, just a couple Security Guards. But I want over whelming force."
Alexis Ayala looks to Ham, "Rifle or Shotgun sir?"
Ham Tyler looks at Alexis, "Not your Sniper Rifle. Shotgun or Assault Rifle."
Martin Grace says, "Overwhelming force?" And the man who just *gave* that, in spades, says "I haven't the slightest idea what you mean. But shotgun it is."
Ham Tyler smiles, "Well, think about it. We have 5 people. Plus one on the inside. There is supposed to be three guards before we get to Bates' Office..."
<ResRadio> Heather O'Leary says, "I'm in. Security teams moved. 1 on the Roof, 1 more in the stairwell from the roof, and 1 outside Bates' Office."
Alexis Ayala nods and decides to leave the Rifle tonight, she'll be going in with a Visitor Rifle and her trusty Shotgun.
Martin Grace just returns with a shotgun, a few minutes later, and has fallen into quiet at this point. He's said his piece. He's cleared the air. Mostly.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs, going in and getting her weapons, picking the laser pistol and rifle since those are most familiar, and her bigger handgun, checking herself over and nodding after.
Ham Tyler pulls out his Uzi, checks the clip, and says simply, "Elizabeth. Get a Squad Ship. Bring it out here, and lets do this thing." While speaking, he slaps the clip back into place, and jacks a round into the chamber.
Elizabeth Maxwell nods. "All right."
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Ready."
<ResRadio> Angelica says, "I'm in the infirmary, in case I'm needed after, unless you want me along shooting."
<ResRadio> Ham Tyler says, "Come along, but wait in the Skyfighter. Julie and Gooder may need medical attention."
<ResRadio> Angelica says, "Right"
Angelica hurries out, with her backpack.
Ham Tyler points to the Squad Ship, "Everyone, mount up."
Alexis Ayala nods, heading in.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs. "Everyone strap in and hold on..." She powers the engines up to full, and blasts it into the sky, /fast/.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs, glancing down to the city, picking out where it is, muttering something about 'wretched hive of scum and villainy' under her breath, and starting to drop the ship.
Elizabeth Maxwell engages the landing cycle quickly, flying down to the roof at extreme high speeds, and cutting it at the last possible second, to get down onto it faster. "Landing... now."
Ham Tyler looks at Martin, and Alexis. "When we land, take out the guard on the roof. Ryan, you and Elizabeth get in the stairwell, and take the guard inside it out... As soon as both of them are down, we'll go to the second floor, break into Bates' office, after killing the guard outside it, and save our friends."
Alexis Ayala nods, she checks the shotgun, peers through the Ghost-ring sights for a moment, "Affirmative.
Elizabeth Maxwell nods at Tyler, and sighs a little, getting up. "Ready."
Martin Grace nods, says nothing, spot-checks and primes his own weapon, waiting.
Ryan Rivers nods to Ham. "Roger that... You sure security will be this that light?" He knows what the answer will be, but best to triple check.
Ham Tyler says softly, as the craft touches down.... "Yes, O'Leary will have it set that way for us..." He pauses as the craft lands, "Go."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods at Tyler, opening the hatch and rushing for it.
Alexis Ayala comes out quickly, her shotgun already held up and braced against her shoulder, looking for the guard, leading with her shotgun.
Martin Grace's wide form barrels like a short, squat fullback out of the squad ship, and as he drops lower to one knee, the shotgun roars once at one of the guards.
Ryan Rivers just takes the rear, merely taking the safety off his gun and making sure that his facemask is on to avoid his identity being revealed in this little adventure.
Alexis Ayala waits for the guard to move again as Martin takes his shot, and the moment the guard looks like he might be getting ready to take a shot, she already has her shotgun aimed right at him.
The gunshot rips into the Guards belly. Well, more like, rips it apart. He has started to pull his Sidearm.
Alexis Ayala sighs, "Well, it's not like he didn't know what would happen if he tried to shoot us."
Elizabeth Maxwell pulls her rifle up and checks it quietly, watching the door for the stairs, and glances to Ryan quickly.
Ham Tyler drops from the Skyfighter, and yells, "Don't hesitate. Shoot them!" He tries to push Liz and Ryan towards the stairwell, trusting Martin and Alex to take the guard down before they get there.
Martin Grace fires again. Yes. He knows. He hesitates only for a moment, though he does try to aim for legs or arms to perhaps cause the kind of injury that may be incapacitating, even crippling, but not fatal. He's not the world's best shot, though, and sometimes, a torso is just the easiest target, you know?
Alexis Ayala makes her way forward quickly, and when she makes it to him, she lets him fall down, and if he isn't down, she makes sure he is, putting her foot on his neck, aiming the shotgun at his face, "CLEAR!"
Ham Tyler shakes his head slightly, and drops a shot onto the head of the Guard, "I said shoot!" He points to Ryan and Liz, "Drop your guard as soon as you see him."
Ryan Rivers just races for the stairwell, letting the other take the guards up top before racing down the stairwell as fast as he can without his gun faltering. Of course since he was moving on while people were firing he has suddenly become point, but well, hopefully his luck will mean he will get out of this mission without getting shot too. He pauses as he sees the guard Ham mentioned, just taking aim to fire a controlled burst toward the upper torso of the guard. He's not a fan of killing, but well, Bates' men are far from heroes.
Elizabeth Maxwell nods to Ham. "Yes, sir." She rushes for the stairs at that point, racing down into the well as well as Ryan, pulling her rifle out. She doesn't even wait an instant, just moves around after Ryan shoots, and fires at the guard full bore towards the chest with the laser rifle.
Alexis Ayala looks to Martin as she moves to follow the group, shrugging to Martin and moving on quickly. Her footsteps carrying her as she goes, tilting the shotgun down, and loading another shell into the chamber quickly after pumping.
Ham Tyler races down the steps, and than at the door, opens it slowly, peering through, "There he is.. end of the hallway...." He screws on the silencer, "Thank goodness for soundproof buildings..." He steps through the door, and fires his full clip at the guard in the hall way, and drops the guard. "Lets go..." than, he reloads, and moves towards Bates' Door.
Ryan Rivers merely races after Ham, not wasting his ammo as well, one full clip that hits is usually enough to take down a guard. Either way, he maintains his focus, just hoping he gets a chance to hit Bates. Unlikely, but well, everyone has to have a goal.
Elizabeth Maxwell gets ready in the hallway, setting herself up and slipping close to the door, closing her eyes softly for a moment, and shivering.
Ham Tyler leads the group to the sliding, elevator type doors, that are also sound proof, that marks the Doors to Bates' Office. "All right.... I open this up, we go in. Any guards, other than O'Leary, we kill. Bates is left alive... for now." He looks thoughtful, "O'Leary is not to be shot."
Alexis Ayala moves past the downed guard, looking with interest to see what his sidearm is, while following after the group."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods. "Stun Bates, perhaps?"
The Dead guard has a sidearm of a Colt M-1911A1
Elizabeth Maxwell checks her weapon, quickly, waiting for response.
Alexis Ayala makes a face, whispering to herself, "Old gun, not even gunsmithed..." as she stands, waiting in front of the door, checking again to make sure her shotgun is full up.
Ham Tyler shakes his head, "I want Bates alive, and able to see what happens, when he fucks with the Resistance." He pushes the button, that causes the door to slide open, and he darts in
The office is a den of depravity tonight. Chained to the Desk, a chain and cuff on each limb, is a naked Julie, appearing Dazed.. In a corner chair, is Mike, wearing what amounts to a loin Cloth... He really doesn't look happy. On his lap, is... Oh my, is that Diana? Yes, it is, and she looks like she just swallowed a canary, all content.. Sitting at the chair behind the desk is a contented looking Bates. Next to Bates, is Heather, arms crossed, and an expression of Ice on her face. Standing on either side of Donovan, is a statue-like Visitor Shock Trooper.
Ham Tyler rushes in, as the doors open, and he stops, mouth opening. No one told him the Queen Lizard-Bitch was going to be here. She is blocking Donovan, but that doesn't stop Ham. He fires his Uzi at the Guard on Diana's and Donovan's Right.
COMBAT: Ham Tyler attacks Visitor Shock Trooper #577 with Uzi SMG and hits! DAMAGE: 42
Elizabeth Maxwell rushes in through the door quickly after Ham, looking around and muttering at the number of people there. She breaks wide at seeing the two in the chair, and fires on the other guard, immediately.
COMBAT: Elizabeth Maxwell attacks Visitor Shock Trooper #576 with Visitor Laser Rifle and hits! DAMAGE: 61
Ryan Rivers just pauses as he sees Juliet naked on the table. Some where out there, a cash register sound rings up, as the number of Female Resistance Ryan has seen nekkid goes up one. How it happens when he is a good and upstanding (mostly) young man... Even Ryan himself has no idea really. Either way, he still just focuses on firing on the guard Hames does, considering that even after the rounds are fired, the Visitor is still up. Darn that armor of theirs.
COMBAT: Ryan Rivers attacks Visitor Shock Trooper #577 with Colt M-16A1 Assault Rifle and Misses!
Martin Grace, fortunately, is a big guy, big enough to shoot over the heads of the smaller folks. And the ones who are smart enough to duck. With a loud boom, he fires at the nearer guard.
COMBAT: Martin Grace attacks Visitor Shock Trooper #576 with Remington Model 1100 Shotgun and hits! DAMAGE: 32 COMBAT: Martin Grace has knocked Visitor Shock Trooper #576 unconscious!
Alexis Ayala has been told not to Shoot at Bates, the Diana woman is on Mike's lap, so seeing the Shock troopers, they become her next target of opportunity. She doesn't need to aim much, just moving the shotgun towards one of them as she moves to the side, pulling the trigger.
COMBAT: Alexis Ayala attacks Visitor Shock Trooper #577 with Mossberg 500 Shotgun and hits! DAMAGE: 45 COMBAT: Alexis Ayala has knocked Visitor Shock Trooper #577 unconscious!
Visitor Shock Trooper #577 and his fellow guard, #576, are knocked to the ground before they can react. They die of their wounds almost immediately.
Nathan Bates stands up, "What the hell is the meaning of this? Get out of my Office!" Nathan fumes.
Juliet Parrish simply lays on the desk, slack-jawed with half-closed eyes, staring unfocused at the mirror (yes, there is a mirror on the ceiling above the desk). Both of her cheeks, along with most of her visible torso, appears bruised to some extend, and there's redness around the edges of the cuffs on her wrists and ankles. She gives no indication that she's aware of the entrance of her salvation.
Michael Donovan is a bit more aware of his surroundings than Julie seems to be, even though his view is somewhat obscured by a lapful of lizard. For the umpty-zillionth time that night (as evidenced by the blood around his wrists) he attempts to pull his bonds apart.
Diana smiles slowly as the doors burst open. One long leg crosses over the other as an arm snakes around Mike's neck, over his shoulders, possessive really. "Come to join the party, have we, Mr. Tyler?" she wonders lightly as she draws her sidearm, leveling it at Ham, and without batting a lizard eyelash, shoots.
COMBAT: Diana attacks Ham Tyler with Visitor Laser Sidearm and Misses!
Heather O'Leary says softly to Nathan, "Shut the hell up!" She than runs towards Diana. Got to get her away from Mike. She tries a Martial Arts throw technique.
COMBAT: Heather O'Leary attacks Diana with Martial Arts Throw and hits! DAMAGE: 11
Ham Tyler dodges the Laser blast, and than, smiles as Heather throws Diana away from Mike. He follows Diana's body, with the muzzle of his Uzi, and fires as soon as she comes to a stop.
COMBAT: Ham Tyler attacks Diana with Uzi SMG and hits! DAMAGE: 42
Elizabeth Maxwell sets aside her laser rifle quickly, yanking the Desert Eagle from inside her coat, as a personal point to shoot at Di with a human weapon. And doesn't hesitate for a blink.
COMBAT: Elizabeth Maxwell attacks Diana with Desert Eagle M-XIX Pistol and hits! DAMAGE: 28
Ryan Rivers doesn't focus himself on the shooting... There are more than enough people for that. Instead, he goes for Mike, putting a hand on his shoulder. "Hold on for a second, buddy... We are here to bail you out. Just keep your head down," he asks takes out his Desert Eagle to shoot the chains that hold him down. No time for key searching.
Martin Grace would do likewise, to free Doc Parrish, but a shotgun is not the best choice for that. Fortunate, he is big-strong-burly man, and chains are stronger, but wooden desk might not be. Rar. Die, wooden desk.
ATTRIBUTE CHECK: NAME: Martin Grace ATTRIBUTE: Strength (Hard) SUCCESS
Alexis Ayala lets the Shotgun fall slack from its sling around her shoulders, as she whips around her visitor rifle, aiming for Diana, as she does seem a rather popular target.
COMBAT: Alexis Ayala attacks Diana with Visitor Laser Rifle: Stun and hits! DAMAGE: STUN COMBAT: Alexis Ayala has knocked Diana unconscious!
Nathan Bates lets out a loud yell, "NO!" He reaches for the intercom, "My Office is under attack!" He pulls out his own gun, and fires at his now Ex-Employee, "O'Leary, you're fired!" And he fires.
COMBAT: Nathan Bates attacks Heather O'Leary with Colt M1911A1 Pistol and hits! DAMAGE: 20
Juliet Parrish stirs slightly as all the noise from the weapons-fire filters into her brain. But still, she doesn't move, nothing more than a slight opening of her eyes signaling the shift. As the desk under her splintered by the massive force behind Martin's steel-toed boots, Julie finds herself dropping to the floor. Though it doesn't do any further damage, it still hurts, and the Doctor cries out hoarsely. She's done a lot of screaming today. Unfortunately, if someone went to try and pick her up, they'd find out how tricky Bates is...double chaining, just in case, to the desk and THEN to the floor. Doesn't trust anyone, does he?
Michael Donovan nods imperceptibly to Ryan, seeming quite likely to only plan on keeping still as long as it takes for the guy to free him. "Glad you guys could make it," he says with a smirk that tries to hide what's really on his mind at that particular moment.
Heather O'Leary is hit by the bullet, but right now, who cares? Her shoulder has had so much metal in it, she could use it for spare Harrier parts. She runs towards Nathan, darting behind the broken desk, with her hand behind her back. Time to let Nathan know how it feels to have something shoved inside him. His belly perhaps? She draws her knife from just under her shirt, in a sheath on her back, and brings it forward, "Screw this, asshole."

As she stares in shock at the fact that she -missed- the lousy human, Diana suddenly finds herself launched through the air, landing in a heap against the wall. Only to then find herself peppered with bullets. Rather than run, though, the Visitor begins to laugh. "Turncoat, is she, Mr. Bates? Seems she betrayed you both. Had Miss Parrish satisfy her needs, and now thanks you for whatever you did." No sooner is her comment out, however, before she's promptly shot again, and stunned. The Cheshire cat grin still on her face, Diana loses consciousness.
Alexis Ayala sidesteps and turns, getting ready to do the same to Bates she did to Diana, and the blinking as it's taken care of, "Anyone need first aid?"
Ham Tyler moves to the door, "All right folks.. get Julie and Gooder out of those Chains. Than get them up to the Squad Ship. Martin, you watch the Elevator, I'll cover the stairwell.. Bates got a call off for help.
Ryan Rivers just fires the second round, aiming for the second chain. Now that Mike is somewhat free, he hands him the M16. Better to give the upper command a gun. Just... makes sense. Either way, he then continues to aim for the remaining chains. One at a time of course. Would be cool if he could shoot then all at the same time though, wouldn't it?
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs a little bit. "The stronger people need to take those two out of here. That's not me..." She glares at Bates, and looks to Heather. "Think we have time to castrate him before the guards get here?"
Martin Grace grunts an acknowledgement to Tyler. "Someone take a quick laser shot to these chains and I can do the rest."
Heather O'Leary says softly, "Let him live... let him maintain everything he has...." She pauses, and says, "Let me call them off.... I think I can convince them that I have things under control... unless..." She looks at the camera in the office. Yes, it is on... "Never mind." She reaches into Nathan's pocket, and hands Martin the Key, "Here."
Alexis Ayala nods, and looks to Liz, "I knocked her out, should I take her with us, for questioning later?" she says, gesturing to Diana.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs. "I didn't /say/ to kill him, Heather. Just make sure he can't do /that/ to anyone else, ever again. And that he can 'enjoy' the rest of his life no longer having a manhood."
Ham Tyler shakes his head, "We don't have time to take her.. besides, I am not giving the bitch any anti-toxin. She stays here. Lydia will be on us soon. Get moving folks! No time for anything but out people, GO!"
Michael Donovan takes the gun that Ryan offers him and rises to his feet the very moment he's first able to. His steps are a bit on the unsure side, since his legs are numb enough not to want to cooperate to the fullest extent. One would think his overriding concern right now would be Julie. Funny, though, his course is taking him perilously close to Bates. It would be so easy...
Alexis Ayala nods, thinking she isn't one of the stronger ones, so she gets ready to cover the others.
Martin Grace takes the key, unlocks the chains. "Doc, can you walk or are you going to be a big ol' sack of rice until we make the elevator?"
Ham Tyler snaps out, "Gooder! Go, or we all die. If so, kill Bates and Diana first, but still.. we can fight them later... Elizabeth, you too! Move out!"
Alexis Ayala hmms, "I'll take up the rear guard."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "That lowers ourselves to his Level, Elizabeth.... We have to go...." She moves over to help Donovan, slipping her arm around his waist, and saying to him, "Lean on me Mike..."
Elizabeth Maxwell shakes her head at Heather. "No, it doesn't lower us to his level. It protects every woman in this facility, and in several cultures is in fact the proper punishment for committing a crime with it." She sighs at the order from Ham, walking for the door.
Ham Tyler watches the stairwell, their only escape. He hopes the group gets out here.
Michael Donovan, between Ham's scolding and Heather's concern, snaps out of whatever daydream he was having. "I'll be fine," he says curtly to O'Leary before starting towards the exit.
Juliet Parrish shudders, her eyes shutting tightly as another male figure looms over her. Only this time when she tries to double up in self-preservation mode, she actually can! And, in her own way, that's Julie's 'No, I can't walk'.
Martin Grace says, "Someone better the hell keep covering me, then." And with that, he hoists the doctor up. "Let's go."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods and holds up her rifle again. "I'll cover the rear with Alex."
Ryan Rivers merely reloads his Eagle with a fresh clip before moving out, making sure to be one of the first out. After all, he wants to draw as much attention to himself as possible.
Heather O'Leary nods, once, and lets Mike go. She knows why he is mad. She'll just... follow along behind. She moves behind Mike, watching him, ready to help if he falls.
<ResRadio> Ham Tyler says, "Angelica, fire up the Squad Ship."
Alexis Ayala watches everyone start to move out, nodding to Elizabeth and getting ready to take up the rear, carefully watching everyone else leave.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs, hurrying to be the rear guard, watching quickly.
<ResRadio> Angelica says, "Acknowledged. Squadship online and ready to launch."
Juliet Parrish feels like her arms and legs are spaghetti, finally moving after nearly twenty four hours. She's hoisted over Martin's shoulders with a soft sound of pain. She -was- hit several times in the stomach.
<ResRadio> Ham Tyler says, "Stairwell clear... Everyone to the roof, and on that Squad ship..."
Ham Tyler stays behind, to cover the Rear, "Go... Go..."
Angelica makes final checks on the ship, making certain it's nice and ready for takeoff.
<ResRadio> Angelica says, "if they come onto the roof after we lift off, should I bother to make a pass over it with the guns?"
Ham Tyler moves to the Helicopter, "This won't be following us." He pulls the fuel line, and lets the Av-Gas leak out.
<ResRadio> Ham Tyler says, "Well, after we lift off, you can fire on the Helicopter. With the Gas all over the roof, it'll start a nice fire."
Ryan Rivers races out the top of the stairs, pausing on the roof flat to look around and make sure nothing has happened in the time it took them to rush the office. This mission has been too easy so far... So Ryan is more than a little concerned about it. Either way, he doesn't see any guards, so that's a good sign.
Alexis Ayala watches Ham do that, and run inside quickly, running back out with the fire extinguisher, looking over the side of the roof, she looks to him, "No Chances." she says, and holds it over the edge...
<ResRadio> Angelica says, "Acknowledged."
Martin Grace says, "Easy, Doc," to his human cargo. "Not much further, then I'll set you down nice and easy and we'll have a look at you."
Ham Tyler shrugs at Alexis' idea, "Whatever works." He looks around, "Let's mount up, before they come up and open fire.. if they set off the gas, while we are still on the Roof, we burn. Let's move" He pauses, and than thinks about something else...
<ResRadio> Ham Tyler says, "Elizabeth, take over the piloting job from Angelica. She'll need to check Julie and Gooder out, make sure they are OK"
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Acknowledged."
Alexis Ayala gives it a little bit of a throw and runs to the ship, waiting for everyone else to go in.
"Don't waste a good extinguisher," Ryan comments to Alexis. "If you don't want them to have it, then just put it on the ship. Besides, dropping it over the edge to hurt an innocent person near the building." Short pause. "Sure innocent people around this place. He just waits at the door of the Squad Ship, covering those coming in and doing a mental head count as he does.
Alexis Ayala shrugs to Ryan.
Ham Tyler moves to the Squad Ship, "I was first here, I'll step off last. Get inside and strap in." The sound of guards coming up the stairs starts to become obvious.
Angelica hurries back to check on the two Resistance leaders, digging her pack up and hurrying for the other doctor, to check her over quickly.
<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "Come on people, we don't have all day..."
Michael Donovan looks back at the door, as though hoping for a little company at that point. After all, someone was nice enough to lend him a perfectly good machinegun. It'd be a shame not to use it. Unfortunately, Ham pulls the 'first one in, last one out', routine, which is enough for Mike to reconsider his rash course of thought.
Alexis Ayala moves in quickly at Ham's order and moves to find her seat again, strapping down.
"And here people try and tell me you weren't a sentimental man, Ham," Ryan offers as he puts his safety on his gun, just shaking his head to the thrown fire extinguisher as he enters in.
Ham Tyler moves, "All right, strap in... Lets go Elizabeth..." The first of the guards can be seen preparing to come through the door to the stairs.
Heather O'Leary straps herself into a seat, as far away from the others as possible. Mike's reaction to her, is what she expects from everyone.
Elizabeth Maxwell glances back around as the last ones board. "Everyone strap in or hold on or something... We are going up... FAST!"
Juliet Parrish is set down gently, still naked, and shivering by this point. She doesn't look good, that much is clear, and one can hope the bruising and bite marks means it's all simply superficial. Despite recognizing the faces around her, she shrinks back from anyone who tries to make contact with her.
Martin Grace, once he sets Doctor Parrish down, grabs the nearest surface, holding out an arm for her to grab onto him if necessary. Other than that, he's silent, and remains so.
Michael Donovan appears comparatively healthy, despite the fact that he's wearing "Fashions By Tarzan" at the moment. He just appears sort of... detached.
Ryan Rivers just looks over toward Juliet, then just averts his eyes as he buckles himself in. The man is a freak, that is for sure. Sadly, Ryan figures he won't have a chance to really take out his own aggression on Bates, so the young man just reads himself for the trip.
Elizabeth Maxwell yanks the controls on the squadship then, launching it off the roof in a heartbeat, and punching it to top speed, heading in the opposite direction from the ranch. Then she banks over HARD, and brings it back around, overflying the roof at a good speed, and firing on the helicopter.
COMBAT: Visitor Squad Ship #189 attacks Helicopter #567 with a Twin Laser Cannons and hits! DAMAGE: 148
Alexis Ayala readies herself for the trip, making sure her straps are on tight, and getting ready to go...
The Helicopter explodes, as does the roof of Science Frontiers. Hope the Fire Department is close by.
Ham Tyler sits quietly, watching Julie and Donovan. His eyes move to Angel, and he arches an eyebrow. He's seen Mr. Spock, once or twice, and mimics the look. It is as if he asks Angel, 'How are they?' with just a look. Very Vocal face.
Angelica holds on just long enough for the takeoff and banking, then digs equipment out of her backpack, to work on Julie. "I can't tell completely. It looks all superficial on her at least... Unless the bruises on the stomach have more problems beneath. I'm hoping not..."
Juliet Parrish shrinks away from Angelica ever so slightly, knees pulling up towards her chest, and hands up to her face. Not a good sign...
Heather O'Leary sits quietly, staring at her hands. "Angelica... I can tell you almost everything that happened to her... Bates made me watch...." She bites her lip, and says, "For the most part, she was beaten... but she may have some problems recovering, strictly from a mental point of view." She of course, doesn't mention why, she said it once, not going to say it again... She also, doesn't mention the bullet in her shoulder.
Angelica sighs a little and nods, checking over Julie quietly. "Relax doctor... it's just me." She sighs at the poor doctor, looking her over and digging out the pain neutralizer she used on the major procedure for Heather before, reaching to put it on Julie's forehead. "Poor dear..."
Elizabeth Maxwell glances back at Heather as she flies the ship along at top speed. "Don't forget the bullet to your shoulder, Heather."
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "It is minor, Elizabeth... Julie and Mike first..."
Juliet Parrish remains in her little ball, ignoring the device being attached to her forehead. Those listening carefully might hear the beginnings of a good cry coming from the Doctor.
Alexis Ayala shivers softly and just sits along for the ride...
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little bit. "I know that, I just mean have it fixed, please?"
Ham Tyler sits quietly, Hoping they get away before Lydia sends someone to check on Diana.
"O.K." is the response Heather gives, along with one nod of the head.
Angelica sighs a little and frowns at Julie as she starts to cry, trying to run the medical scanner over her to check the injuries better. "I'm sorry honey..." She runs the scanner down over the balled up form towards the back, and sighs at some of the readings, shivering.
Elizabeth Maxwell glances back. "Now leaving LA. should be at the ranch in a couple minutes."
In the distance, 5 Skyfighters swoop down from the Mothership, heading for Science Frontiers
Alexis Ayala sighs, "Hopefully we get there okay..."
Elizabeth Maxwell tries to push the squad vehicle a little harder, aiming it for the ranch, diving the ship down to the treeline like it was a roller coaster, then pulling it over head as they reach it, and into the yard.
Elizabeth Maxwell moves it into the barn then, quickly, to set it down.
Heather O'Leary remains seated. She wants to think, and maybe everyone will file out, when Julie and Mike are taken to the Infirmary.
Elizabeth Maxwell shuts down the ship and stands up. "We're home."
Alexis Ayala nods, "home sweet home."'
Angelica nods a little bit. "Mike and Julie need to be taken to the infirmary immediately, to be checked over better and fixed up."
Juliet Parrish shakes her head, shuddering as she looks up at Angelica with teary eyes. "No...no, I...no. My room, I... I'm going to m-my room."
Alexis Ayala starts to get up slowly, thinking that she doesn't know Juliet or Heather that well, and that she'd be best to leave them to their own devices...getting up slowly.
Angelica sighs a little bit at Julie. "Doctor Parrish, you need to be checked over, you have injuries that need a little treating, then you can go to your room, I promise..."
Michael Donovan looks up slightly as Julie speaks. Still, the difference is barely perceptible, like being 500,000 miles away instead of a million.
Juliet Parrish shakes her head, remaining in her ball. "No," she insists, shifting her glance to Donovan for a moment as she adds, quietly, "Mike, please." Yup, she's asking Mike to take her.
Michael Donovan blinks once. Okay, 250,000 miles perhaps. He seems genuinely surprised at hearing her say his name. He slowly gets to his feet and walks over to her, ready to help her up and away.
Heather O'Leary says softly, "Julie..." Maybe it is audible, maybe it isn't. However she stops, and just shuts up. Better to not say anything.
Angelica glances to Donovan then. "I don't /think/ she has any internal injuries, but with her in a ball like that, I'm not sure the portable scanner would notice if there /were/. Also several surface wounds that need treatment to keep from being infected. I'm sure you can put band aids on some of the smaller ones, but... If she has any hint stabbing pains, bring her in."
Michael Donovan nods vaguely to Angelica and tries to lift Julie upright. With a tenderness that astonishes even him, he murmurs, "Everything's going to be okay, hon."
Juliet Parrish remains in a ball, but not quite so tightly, as Donovan picks her up. Her face buries in his neck, and she whimpers softly as she's moved. And while she's mostly protected, there's a firm pair of pale buttocks out in the open.
Angelica sighs a little. "Also, get covered up before someone catches a cold?"
