Title: Men, Ladies, Misunderstandings, and Such

Players: Angelica, Alexis Ayala, Martin Grace, and Jason Briggs

Location: Maxwell Ranch

Synopsis: One comment, that registers as amusing to one, can cause a problem when others don't see it...

From outside, Visitor Skyfighter #198 moves down from the skies, bringing its landing gear online, and lining up to hover down and move into the barn.

From outside, Alexis Ayala stands up from the porch, moving after the Skyfighter

<ResRadio> Alexis Ayala says, "Visitor Skyfighter, Identify."

<ResRadio> Angelica says, "Just me, coming back after taking people to New York."

<ResRadio> Alexis Ayala says, "Roger that me."

<ResRadio> Angelica laughs.

Angelica hops out of the fighter, and stretches out.

Alexis Ayala stands ready, in the barn, her Visitor Rifle at the Ready, watching the Skyfighter

Angelica smiles at Alex and waves. "Hi there. You can, uh, put that away. I figure Briggs and Julie will want to come back with the others."

Alexis Ayala nods, "I just have to be sure, I haven't seen or heard from them for 2-3 days, you understand? Any number of things could have happened in those 2 days."

Angelica shrugs a little bit. "did they say how long they were going to be gone?"

Alexis Ayala nods, "They said they'd be back 2 days ago."

Alexis Ayala says, "Or, that's what Heather told me."

Angelica hmms a little at that and frowns. "I'd think it depends on what the others want. Mike and Julie are both there as well..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "No kidding, I've been left mostly by myself here, sitting on the Porch hoping nothing happens while everyone is gone. While it's not likely that we're raided again, and certainly not so soon..." she sighs, shaking her head.

Angelica shakes her head. "And especially not without any activity around..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, looking around a bit, sighing, "Activity..."

Angelica shrugs a little. "well, I'm here at least..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Yes, I know..." she says, thinking about a few things, "How was the trip to New York? I didn't get to go."

Angelica hmms a little and shrugs. "I didn't actually go into town. I stayed on the pad, and came home. I'm not really much for social activities."

Alexis Ayala ahs, and hmms, "Oh, okay."

Angelica smiles and shrugs. "Sorry. If you wanted to check on them, I could probably take you out into radio range at least..."

Alexis Ayala shakes her head softly, "No...really, that's okay...I'm sure they'll be back eventually."

Angelica nods a little bit at that. "I doubt they're having any problems, I probably would have heard before I left, if they were."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Oh yes, of course."

Angelica hmms a little and frowns. "Anyway, I'm sorry you've been left alone so much...

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "I think I am too." she says quietly, "Sorry you weren't able to enjoy New York as much as I'm sure they did..."

Angelica shrugs a little at that. "I'm not too worried about it. Maybe I'll go with some other group, some other time."

Alexis Ayala nods softly, "What you do when no one is injured?"

Angelica smiles and shrugs a little bit. "Well, some of the time is for keeping the equipment maintained, and sterilizing it properly once in a while... Otherwise, I'm sometimes in the house. Not terribly often, though."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "It doesn't sound like you do a lot with your free time?"

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "Well, I suppose not."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "How do you stay in a calm, relaxed frame of mind? Doesn't working all of the time get to you without doing something to relax yourself, or even just to do something other than work?

Angelica smiles and shrugs a little bit. "well, I figure if I'm not actively treating someone, as long as there's a patient in there, I can be talking to them. And admittedly, I do go out and do /something/ once in a while. Like being on the range that night."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "And when there isn't a patient in there?"

Angelica smiles and shrugs. "then I go inside and see who's there."

Alexis Ayala giggles softly, "I guess you like things being unexciting?"

Angelica laughs a little and nods. "Excitements in my life , especially lately, have generally been less than good."

Alexis Ayala grins wryly, "That doesn't mean all excitement is bad."

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "I suppose not..."

Alexis Ayala smiles softly, "But still, there has to be more to life than the infirmary..."

Angelica smiles a little. "I suppose. I don't know anyone very well yet, though, so am a little uneasy about running off, especially with large groups."

Alexis Ayala nods, "I don't think you have to run off to do other things though..."

Angelica smiles a little. "and... what do you suggest I do here, then?"

Alexis Ayala shrugs, "I'm not sure, but there's got to be more then your infirmary, certainly, just work, and more work...can't be that great for a person."

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "Maybe."

Alexis Ayala smiles, "Yeah, just maybe, I mean, how could just working all the time be bad for a person, that's hardly logical..."

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "Well, it certainly was exciting a few nights ago, I'll admit that...""

Alexis Ayala nods, "Oh, that...That was exciting alright."

Angelica sighs a little bit. "Excitements, nightmares... all sorts of things. Including my arrival here, if you heard about it. A whole group was coming out from Miami, our shuttle got shot down and crashed in the pasture. Someone I was working on, and I, wound up in the only section that wasn't crushed."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "I hadn't heard about that, I'm sorry."

Alexis Ayala listens to you, leaning against the wall as she does, seeming concerned.

Angelica nods a little bit at that. "Part of why I'm taking a lot more time to get used to things, before doing too much outside the line of work."

Alexis Ayala nods and smiles warmly, "OH, well, I can certainly understand that, believe me. I have my own things to have nightmares about..."

Alexis Ayala says, "my father died in a plane crash."

Angelica nods a little bit at that. "I'm sorry to hear that."

Alexis Ayala nods, "It was a plane crash on purpose, Pan Am 103, terrorist bomb."

Angelica winces a little bit at that, nodding.

Alexis Ayala smiles just a bit, "I think I can say that's where it all started.

Angelica frowns slightly, nodding again.

Alexis Ayala hmms. "That's when I started to live with relatives, that's when I started to learn Firearms, and it's when I decided that my conviction would get me into the Army, and I'd fight to make sure the kind of thing that happened to my father and to me, being without him for those reasons, to make the world safer..."

Alexis Ayala sighs, "Now...a lot of the Visitors are my enemies."

Angelica nods a little bit, looking downward slightly.

Alexis Ayala reaches out, touching Angelica's shoulder, "I don't hold you responsible for what your people did."

Alexis Ayala says, "If I held Arabs responsible for what two people did to Pan Am Flight 103, what kind of person would I be?"

Alexis Ayala says, "Sure, it makes it easier to fight the Visitors if I see your kind as 'the enemy', but then...that doesn't make me much better than the people who are responsible for my father's death."

Angelica shakes her head. "I know. It's still bad to think about. A military system that makes certain that nearly all of those up into authority are the worst of the worst. It isn't entirely noticeable until something that's completely wrong starts being done."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, and sighs, "But look at you, you're a medical officer of OUR Resistance, that sure as hell couldn't have been an easy decision to make."

Angelica shakes her head. "easier than you might think, considering circumstances and situation. Anyone medical willingly supporting that, well... I shudder to think."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "Yes, but that doesn't change the fact that you are fighting them. That you made the right decision. You are not them Angelica, and, as much of a fighter as I much as I might be a gunbunny or a combat specialist or 'you point, I shoot', /I/ know that you're one of us."

Angelica smiles a little bit. "I'm glad, there are people who still don't, sometimes. JFK traffic control certainly didn't like me..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "There will always be people like that, and I'll be the first one to tell I wasn't a little wary when you returned from New York alone."

Alexis Ayala smiles, "I know what side you're on Angelica, but please understand it might take me a little bit to completely trust you, but making sure I was well again after taking a few shots the other night goes a long way."

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "They were wary when I was one of the only two to survive the crash, as well." She sighs a little. "I was almost certain someone on a parachute was hurt, and wanted to check where they landed. s'how I first met Heather, in fact. But we got seen doing it. That's how we got shot down."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "I'm sorry it happened that way Angelica."

Angelica nods a little bit and sighs. "So am I."

Alexis Ayala nods, "I would imagine so."

Angelica nods a little bit. "No one disputed wanting to do it, but.... it was me asking to check. I was flying before we picked her up, then I had to check on her."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "And that's when it happened then?"

Angelica nods a little bit. "we were seen picking her up and lifting off. Our pilot tried to evade, even tried to return fire and defend the ship, but.... a squad ship isn't meant to out maneuver or outfight a fighter."

Alexis Ayala nods, "So I've heard, actually."

Alexis Ayala says, "I'd heard the Squad Fighters weren't very efficient in engagements..."

Angelica nods a little bit. "They're meant to be troop transports, not fighters. Fighters have weapons at both ends to do what they do properly. And they're a lot faster."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "The concept of Troop Transports and Fighters being different craft isn't at all new."

Angelica nods a little bit and laughs. "Not in the least. And the troop transports have never been defensible against fighters."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Right."

Alexis Ayala smiles softly, "But they both get their jobs done."

Angelica nods a little bit. "To an extent. A transport /should/ have escort, but..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Generally a transport not having an escort is a bit...well, it's not strategically sound, but circumstances don't always permit that which is strategically sound."

Angelica nods a little bit. "If there'd been a third pilot, we could have flown an escort, but..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Yes, I understand."

Alexis Ayala says, "I myself wish we had something better than the Harrier of ours"

Alexis Ayala says, "call me old fashioned, I just have an affinity for...stuff we made."

Alexis Ayala says, "if only we had a runway, then we could keep a few F-14's or something, I mean, the Navy wanted to retire them anyway."

Angelica glances around a little bit. "Yeah... unfortunately there isn't a lot of it around and available. Not sure where they got the Harrier..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Not sure, I think they liberated the Harrier from the Visitors."

Angelica nods a little bit. "Wouldn't surprise me. The problem with a runway is how to hide it. I'm guessing they wanted this particular one because it can take off vertically, or on a short flat spot, like the pasture."

Alexis Ayala nods, "The only problem is, they have a history of problems, the Harrier is pretty high Maintenance, and more have gone down to 'accident's related to some form of hardware failure than have ever been shot down."

Angelica nods a little bit, glancing it over. "I'm sure. Too many moving parts to have problems."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Not so much that, as the fact that the design concept still has a few new discoveries to be made in regards to it. IT's still revolutionary."

Alexis Ayala says, "Even a couple of Helicopters..."

Angelica nods a little bit. "I'm not sure where we'd find any, unless they can get some from up north and bring them down."

Alexis Ayala hms, and nods slowly, "Indeed, and then, we'd have to have a Helo pilot...but...shit, the advantage of something that can defend itself AND transport troops and fly so low..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Granted, can't maneuver like the Skyfighters, but I think more can be said for it's weapons, than can be said for a Squad fighter."

Angelica nods a little bit. "Definite possibility. Easier to maneuver around and get weapons to bear. It's not that the squadships weapons are different, it's just that it's clunky to maneuver against a faster target, to get the two it has into a position to fire."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Right." she says, "I wish there was some way we could acquire more military hardware, like, I mean, aircraft..."

Alexis Ayala says, "The way things have been, you'd think the Military would be able to spare some hardware, if not people, things like the F-14, a great dogfighter, but one that doesn't see near as much use as it did before, and there are even a number of them retired...""

Angelica nods a little bit. "Yeah, those run into the runway issue. You'd have to talk with Heather probably about any of that."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Yeah, the runway issue." she says, "But, still, Helicopters wouldn't be terrible."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Not many issues with Helicopters...just maintenance, but that's already an issue with the things we already have."

Angelica nods a little bit. "Yeah. I'm assuming they maintain the fighters with parts from other ones crashed, or from that ship they captured."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "It's too bad it has to be so hard to acquire NEW hardware, other than guns, seems to be the only thing we can get with any measure of regularity."

Angelica nods a little bit. "Yeah. equipment supply is always an issue. It's better here than it was in Miami, though... a lot better."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Really? Tell me more about Miami?"

Angelica shrugs a little bit. "We had to move nearly weekly there, sometimes even more often. We didn't have any nice secure bases above the dust line, to store a bunch of equipment. We barely could move what weapons we had, and would have to 'appropriate' other new things as we went along."

Alexis Ayala shivers, "Wow, that must have been terrible."

Angelica nods a little bit. "It was... nuts. We barely were able to spare people or a ship to fly out here. We couldn't afford to lose any of it, or anyone. I'm worried about how they are now. Evidently they're still in contact..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "How were they able to spare you?"

Angelica sighs. "They had a couple other doctors around, from Miami/Dade County hospital, couple others joined after I did.. In theory, we weren't going to be here forever, either..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "OH...what happened to that theory?"

Angelica sighs. "They said that I could stay out here as long as I was needed. It was indefinite anyway... with the new doctors, they have more there than there are here, though..."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "Right, so, of course, we still need you here."

Martin Grace arrives from Maxwell Ranch Front Yard.

Angelica nods a little bit. "Exactly." She glances around. "I was actually looking forward to being here, so were some of the others. A nice stable base, enough equipment... This place is practically paradise, even if I do have to take the antidote to the bacteria every 12 hours to stay alive in it."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "I think I can understand that, certainly."

Martin Grace trundles in, with a light tapping of the steel in his boots on the concrete of the floor. He makes his way towards the ladder, sipping the last of a beverage from a glass bottle.

Alexis Ayala pauses, noticing Martin moving in, blinking for a few moments, and then looking back to Angelica, "I imagine you're quite valuable to us here, I haven't been here very long, but that's how I see it.

Angelica smiles a little bit. "Thanks. I try to be useful, anyway..." She glances over at Martin and waves towards him, then.

Alexis Ayala giggles softly, "I think most of us try to be useful..."

Martin Grace tosses the bottle -- beer? no, wait, it's like some kinda weird ethnic soda or something -- into the nearest receptacle. "Evenin', Doctor," he says, to Angelica. Then gives the new -- or at least, new-to-him -- girl a nod.

Alexis Ayala nods to Martin grace, her attention still mostly on Angelica.

Angelica smiles a little at Alex and nods, smiling to Martin as well then. "Hi there. What's going on?"

Martin Grace says, "Nothin'. Just makin' rounds. It's been quiet." He brings a hand to his mouth for a little burp. "'Scuze. That ginger beer always does that to me, but the spicy tingle in the mouth is worth it."

Alexis Ayala hmms softly, and nods slowly, looking to Angelica, "Well, I think I'm glad your here."

Angelica smiles and nods at Martin, laughing a bit. "Does that to everyone that I've seen drink it." She smiles at Alex then. "Thanks..."

Alexis Ayala smiles, "Hey, it's the truth, I'm standing because of you and your medical gadgets."

Martin Grace looks from the Visitor woman to the apparently human one. Back. Forth. Back. Forth.

Angelica smiles a little more, and raises her eyebrows at Martin and his looking. "Er, what?"

Alexis Ayala blinks, and looks to Martin, "Something wrong?"

Alexis Ayala raises a brow, "What, never seen female bonding? It's not like we're making out..."

Martin Grace laughs. "Well, you know, I wasn't even thinking that, and you had to go and put the thought in my head."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "So what were you thinking?"

Angelica laughs a little bit, watching Martin and smiling more brightly.

Martin Grace hmphs. "I was just wondering if someone would do the polite thing and make introductions, actually. But, never mind. Clearly, I've been marked as a sexist pig or something. If you all will excuse me...." He reaches for the ladder.

Angelica laughs a little bit and shakes her head. "Oh, sorry. Martin, this is Alexis. She just got here a couple nights ago.../" Alexis Ayala laughs softly, and hmms, "Right...well, I'm assuming you know Angelica, I'm Alexis Ayala."

Martin Grace nods, but still looks a bit ... sensitive. Clearly he didn't appreciate the implied accusation. "Martin Grace."

Alexis Ayala nods and smiles, not really close enough to extend a hand, she hmms, "I'd thought you were headed somewhere, you looked like you had a purpose, next time maybe you should just say something instead of just looking at us?"

Angelica smiles a little at Martin. "Sorry if we upset you..."

Martin Grace holds out his hand. And makes a grunt of acknowledgement, but says nothing more on the subject. Depending on one's level of empathy, it may or may not indicate something.

Alexis Ayala smiles and shakes the hand firmly, in a somewhat professional manner. She nods, "yes, I didn't really mean to upset you..."

Martin Grace nods once after taking his hand back, and then gives a long exhale. "We can forget it, I guess. But for future reference, joking around about things like that is only cool with me if it's true."

Angelica raises her eyebrows slightly, glances to Alex, and doesn't say, well, anything.

Alexis Ayala raises a brow, and then nods slowly, "Right..." she says, glancing back at Angelica.

Angelica smiles a little more at Martin. "So, what have you been up to? I don't remember seeing you during the big attack the other night..."

Martin Grace says, "You likely didn't. I drew short straw."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Drew short straw, in relation to?"

Martin Grace says, "Well, someone, on occasion, has to stay behind to be the rescue team if something goes wrong."

Angelica raises her eyebrows. "Er... the attack I'm speaking of was when a squad vehicle landed right here on the ranch, right in the yard."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Yeah, Only reason I'm not in a bed with laser burns is because of Miss Angelica and her wondrous medical gadgets here, I got shot up pretty good."

Martin Grace says, "Oh." Chagrin. "I thought you meant the big ... never mind. I didn't even know there *was* an attack. I was out of town for a few days. Family business. An old acquaintance said he thought he had a line on Oliver, but he just wanted some money." He shakes his head. "This war brings out the worst in people."

Alexis Ayala comments, "War always brings out the worst in people, and also, sometimes the best."

Angelica nods a little bit at that. "Oh. I'm sorry to hear that..." She glances around a little bit.

Martin Grace says, "Yeah, me, too." He shrugs. "But Ollie's a big boy, I suppose. If he ain't dead, he can take care of himself."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "I'm sure something good will come up, sometimes only time can tell, yeah?"

Angelica nods a little bit.

Martin Grace says, "Yeah." He nods. "Yeah."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, thinking for a few moments, "So, Martin, what do you do for the resistance?"

Martin Grace says, "Mostly? I'm the muscle. Me and Lucille do the heavy gunning."

Alexis Ayala ahs, and nods slowly, "I'm a gunsmith, I do Small Arms, and I know how to take care of all of our weapons."

Martin Grace nods. "Well, I mostly care for Lucille myself, but thanks, I'll remember that."

Angelica smiles a little bit at the two, stepping back slightly.

Alexis Ayala nods softly, "Sure, ever need any modifications or improvements done, I'm the girl for that kind of work, I even work the Visitor Weapons, but I'll hold back on any shop talk, I don't want to alienate pun intended."

Martin Grace nods. "Any reason for the hanging around here, then? I mean, in the barn?"

Angelica laughs a little and rolls her eyes at Alex, shaking her head, smiling at Martin. "Not that I know of..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Actually, I was just having a conversation with Angelica about how often she gets out of the barn."

Martin Grace nods. "The climate, perhaps." He looks to the Visitor for confirmation.

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "I get out of here sometimes..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Sometimes she says."

Angelica laughs at Alex and rolls her eyes. "I got out on Monday night, just in time to wind up being away from the infirmary when the attack came..."

Martin Grace says, "Well, I've got to finish my rounds, myself," with a shrug. "If you all are still here when I come back down, I'll be sure to mock you until you leave. So if you ladies will excuse me?"

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "Sure, consider yourself excused..."

Angelica smiles and nods. "Hope to see you later, then..."

Martin Grace nods. "You likely will." He grabs the ladder and scoots up.

Alexis Ayala nods and waves.

Angelica smiles and waves. "Don't work too hard."

Martin Grace heads up.

Alexis Ayala hmms, looking to Angelica, "He called me a Lady."

Angelica smiles a little bit and shrugs. "Why, aren't you one?"

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Do I look like one?" she asks, a little... skeptical.

Angelica hmms a little and scratches her head a little bit. "Certainly." She smiles. "I haven't seen any others wearing a skirt around here, at least." She rolls her eyes.

Alexis Ayala blinks, and then remembers what she's wearing. She sighs, "Yeah...I'm still in 'dress' mode, I still don't think I look like a Lady, even if I dress like this..." She makes a face, "I really like being a Liaison, it's something fresh and new for me, but I'm not often used for that sort of thing..." she says. She hmms, looking again at what she's wearing, and then looks to Angelica, "Certainly?"

Angelica laughs a little and smiles, shrugging. "Well, far as I know. Never actually seen what a proper 'lady' wears or looks like, totally... you certainly qualify a lot more than I do anyway."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Do I? I don't know, you certainly have a more compassionate profession..." she says.

Angelica laughs a little bit and shrugs. "Even if I don't dress entirely appropriately for it." She smiles a little bit. "I only worry about what I look like if there isn't a patient to be handled. I'm sure some people here can attest to that."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "You don't seem to have any patients to handle now..."

Angelica smiles, and shrugs a little bit. "Well, is my hair mussed up or something?" She laughs slightly. "I made sure my face was on right... unlike when I first got here..."

Alexis Ayala coughs a bit at that, and then laughs, shaking her hair softly, "Nah, not that at all. But just dressing like one doesn't make me a Lady."

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "Well, you certainly seem polite, and proper enough when not handling weapons..."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "pretty hard to look ladylike holding a Shotgun isn't it?"

Angelica laughs a little bit and nods. "Yes, it is. Was harder for me when my face was dangling half off, and I was frantically trying to give CPR to someone. Like I was when I got here."

Alexis Ayala shivers, "Suppose that would be relatively difficult." she says, "guess you don't really worry about appearance at a time like that."

Angelica shakes her head. "Nope..." She smiles a little. "I was certainly happier when I got it fixed back on, a few minutes later. I would rather not inflict the sight of my fake face being off, on people around here."

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, biting her lip, "I suppose that's just how it is..."

Angelica smiles a little and shrugs. "Guess so."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Yup." she says, "We need a new subject."

Angelica laughs a little and looks around a bit. "Wonder if anyone's fed the kittens while Heather and them have been gone."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Kittens?"

Angelica nods a little bit. "I didn't really see a cat, but yeah. There were a bunch of kittens in the stable, I've been taking food out to them once in a while."

Alexis Ayala nods softly, "Are you the only one that feeds them?"

Angelica shakes her head. "From what I've been told, Heather has claimed them, but she's still away."

Martin Grace arrives from Second Level Landing.

Alexis Ayala nods slowly, "Then I doubt that anyone has fed them, I didn't even know about them."

Angelica hmms a little and nods, frowning slightly. "I may have to look into doing that, then."

Alexis Ayala hmms, "I should think the Kittens would think you have to look into doing that."

Martin Grace comes down the ladder. "Alright. My rounds are done. What happened to you two stepping out?"

Alexis Ayala hmms, "I think we just were, to go feed some kittens."

Angelica smiles and nods a little. "Or at least checking on how much food they have, anyway."

Alexis Ayala nods, "Certainly." she says, cheerfully even.

Martin Grace says, "Feeding. Kittens." He looks back and forth. "We have kittens?"

Angelica nods a little bit. "Yes, in the stables... Heather has kittens, I'm just concerned about them being fed with her not here."

Alexis Ayala nods, "We were just going to make sure they're okay."

Martin Grace says, "I hope Elizabeth's dog didn't find them."

Angelica raises her eyebrows. "doesn't she keep her dog in the house usually?"

Alexis Ayala hmms, and looks to Angelica, "Should we be concerned?"

Angelica shakes her head. "I've never seen the dog outside. I'm not too worried, really. Besides, the stables are only totally open from the pasture anyway, and there's a gate on that."

Martin Grace nods. "Alright, then. Feeding the kittens it is. Are we raiding the pantry?"

Alexis Ayala hmms, "I'd be careful using that word here."

Angelica laughs a little bit and rolls her eyes a little bit. "Just for tuna, and a little bit of milk."

Martin Grace motions. "Ladies first."

Alexis Ayala hmms, and looks to Angelica, "He did it again."

Angelica glances to Alex and laughs, rolling her eyes. "He did it again to me, as well." She shrugs, and grins at Martin a little.

Alexis Ayala nods, "To the Pantry then...should I announce the raid on the radio? Get my shotgun?"

Martin Grace says, "I ... did ... what?"

Angelica laughs a little at Alexis, shaking her head, then grins at Martin a little bit, soon laughing harder.

Martin Grace frowns. "I can go lots of places and be laughed at."

Alexis Ayala just grins, "Alright, so just the shotgun then."

Angelica shakes her head a little, trying to sober up. "Yes, I'm sure we'll need a shotgun to walk across the yard, into the house, and down into our own pantry." She grins at Martin again then. "Sorry, Martin. I'll tell you, I promise, if you think about it though, it's one of the only things you've said twice."

Martin Grace hmphs and, starting to fume a little, shoves through the door himself.

Martin Grace moves east.

Alexis Ayala blinks softly...

Alexis Ayala hmms, "Um...was that a little...well, maybe a lot...uncalled for?"

Angelica hmms, and slips east.

You go to Maxwell Ranch Front Yard.

Alexis Ayala arrives from New Barn.

Alexis Ayala watches Angelica slip east, and moves after her, just a wee bit miffed.

Angelica hurries up behind Martin, speaking softly. "Sorry, Martin... it's just that the idea of being called a lady, uh, struck her as being slightly funny, then struck me as being just as funny."

Alexis Ayala hmms, raising her brow at Martin, as she doesn't seem in any hurry herself.

Martin Grace is not mollified. He whirls 'round on Angelica. "But 'girls' would have been condescending. 'Comrades' isn't the way I talk. And just about anything else would have been pornographic and, frankly, unworthy of use between civilized people who are supposed to at least *try* and be friends." He gestures angrily. Yeah, he's in a bad mood now. "Jesus Christ, we make fun of Ham all the time, sure, but at least he's *in* on the joke. And, frankly, brings it on himself by being a flaming butthead. All I do is try to be a little nice, a little respectful, with the occasional set of manners. I wait to be introduced, and I'm accused of something. I use a term of respect, and I'm like some Amish kid fresh off the farm to you people!" He leans in a bit. Clearly, to him, this has not been all in fun, and while he isn't *quite* as tall as Angelica, the broad muscles should give a hint that this is a kinda intimidating guy, yes. "Do I have to scratch myself and give you all obscene nicknames and leer like Major Briggs before people stop damn well *mocking* me around here?"

Alexis Ayala cants her head, "Let me tell you're doing a hell of a job representing a 'flaming butthead' right now, and you're not showing the least manners at this particular moment. If you'd like to scratch yourself right now to make yourself look just a little more rude, then feel pleased to do so." she says, now getting closer, slowly.

Angelica scratches her head, and tries to wrap arms gently around in a show of support. "I'm sorry... I guess I don't see 'girls' as being condescending, myself..."

Visitor Squad Ship #191 arrives from Central California Sky.

Visitor Squad Ship #191 moves west.

Martin Grace, in the Visitor's grasp, turns his head to eye Alexis. "I don't know you. Until I do, you don't get a say in this. I tried being polite, not once, but twice, and clearly all it was worth was being laughed at. Not 'with'. Not even 'near'. But 'at'. You think taking offense at that is *rude*? You ain't *seen* rude yet. You want me to be rude? Fine." He snarls it now: "Piss off." And then, to Angelica: "Let go of me. Now."

Alexis Ayala gets close to Martin, and stands up straight, to her full height. She may not be tall, but she doesn't need to be, she has a bearing of being rather self-assured at the moment. "Excuse me Martin? /I/ don't get a say in this? What in the hell is that supposed to mean? Yes, as a matter of fact, you /were/ polite, but right now, you're making a class act of a jack ass of yourself? Do you understand that? I'll have you know that I thought you were plenty polite, that I took it as a compliment, that me and Angelica spent 20 minutes talking about if /I/ actually looked like a Lady. I might have said you seemed to be a gentlemen, but, I guess you'd though you had to prove me wrong. Dick."'

Jason Briggs arrives from New Barn.

Alexis Ayala stands near Martin and Angel, speaking in a firm, and sort of loud tone of voice.

Martin Grace is, in fact, being grasped by Angel, an arms-around-the-body thing, and is talking rather loudly, forcefully, to her and the other redhead.

Angelica sighs at Martin, and shakes her head, slipping her arms away and walking off for the pasture, frowning.

Martin Grace says, "Yeah," to Alexis, "you got a *prize-winning* way of taking compliments, and making a guy feel appreciated." With the usual sarcasm of the cheesed-off. "You have a *great* night now."

Jason Briggs says, "Damn, did I walk into something that isn't good?"

Alexis Ayala laughs, "Oh, you'll tell me to piss off, but when I have something to say you'll just turn your back and walk away, is that it?" she says, "If your selfish insecurities mean this much to you, then you've got a lot more to worry about that what I just happen to find humorous."

Alexis Ayala says, "you act like you've never heard women nervously giggle or laugh about men before, ever been to High School or College?"

Angelica sighs, and just shakes her head, walking out to the pasture.

Martin Grace ignores Alexis. He stomps towards the house. "Oh, for pity's sake, Major," he says to Briggs, as he passes, "It's high time to start using your goddamned head as something more than a place to rest your fatigue cap when it's not in your hands."

Alexis Ayala says, "So things didn't go your way and you're just throwing out insults left and right now, is that it?"

Alexis Ayala says, "How very polite of you, how very gentlemanly, how terrible that you managed to get a rise, a nervous laugh out of a woman. If you're really that insecure, I've already said you've got bigger problems than how you /think/ I take a compliment."

Jason Briggs says to everyone, "Arguing isn't a way to solve things, it could get us killed in raids if we keep it up, we are all on the same team here."

Alexis Ayala says, "Well, I would say that Major Briggs, but Martin Grace here feels that I don't deserve to have a say, SIR."

Jason Briggs says, "everyone has a say here, we just gotta make the right decisions."

Martin Grace doesn't answer. He simply heads into the house.

Martin Grace moves to the Foyer .

Alexis Ayala lifts her hand, and points at Martin, "You, have a judgement problem."

Alexis Ayala watches him walk away.

Jason Briggs says, "Alexis, stop."

Jason Briggs says, "maybe you guys need to talk to Julie when they get back and sort this out then."

Alexis Ayala looks to Briggs, "NO ONE, tells me that I don't deserve to have a say, regardless of who the hell THEY THINK THEY ARE, Sir."

Alexis Ayala says, "if he can't handle that, that's his problem."

Jason Briggs says, "Alexis, everyone has a say so here, it's a free country, but also decide on which say so is the best course of action."

<ResRadio> Pyotr Zagadka says, "Is there car battery available lying round?"

Alexis Ayala blinks, looking at Briggs, "Maybe he should have thought of that before he made a judgement on me, and before he decided to tell that I didn't deserve to have a say."

<ResRadio> Elizabeth Maxwell says, "A car battery? hrm. I could probably get hold of one, if there isn't. I'll check..."

<ResRadio> Pyotr Zagadka says, "Danke."

Afterwards, in the pasture...

Alexis Ayala walks towards the pasture, after having gotten something from the barn, the familiar shotgun slung over her shoulder. She walks quickly, saying, "I might not smoke, but I have my own ways to relieve stress..." more to herself than...well...anyone.

Angelica is off into the pasture, at the firing range, quite upset. She's holding her old duty sidearm rather clumsily, trying to practice fire it, for the moment.

Alexis Ayala walks up, a few feet away from Angelica, "Hey." she says, "Looks like we're out here for the same reason."

Angelica nods a little at Alex, shrugging slightly. "I guess so."

Angelica pulls back on her trigger again.

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and hits!

Alexis Ayala lifts her shotgun, putting the stock against her shoulder and getting ready to fire, she sights in on the target...

bang-click She pumps again... and again... and again...

Alexis Ayala sighs, lowering the shotgun to about hip height, taking a long breath in.

Angelica sighs at that, pulling back on her trigger again, slowly. She doesn't fire so quickly, but just tries to sight her shots a little better.

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and hits!

Alexis Ayala looks to Angelica, "You okay?"

Alexis Ayala pulls a few shells out of her pocket, and starts calmly reloading the shotgun, sliding in one shell after another.

Angelica glances over a little bit and shrugs. "I'm... not sure. Obviously I handled something wrong with Martin, or he wouldn't have pushed me away like that."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and hits!

Alexis Ayala hmms, "I...I didn't help, it was all me anyway, I caused the whole thing. Well, me and him taking what I did the wrong way..."

Angelica sighs a little and shakes her head. "I didn't help either. I keep wondering what I should have done... I was trying to explain and apologize..."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and hits!

Alexis Ayala shakes her head, "You didn't need to apologize, he needed to listen. We laughed, he took it the wrong way, and he didn't wait to think anything else. He's a little bit insecure, and he needs to understand that everyone is going to laugh at everyone, and pick on everyone, for that matter, we're a Resistance, things aren't easy, and they're not supposed to be, not for any of us. None of us are 'better' than any of the others, that's why I was so upset when he told me I didn't have a right to talk because he didn't know me. He was thinking about himself more than anything else, and when I said so, he turned his back on me and walked away, because when he said I didn't have a right to my say, he believed it."

Angelica sighs and shakes her head. "I don't know about you, but if I've upset someone, I feel a need to apologize for upsetting them." She shrugs.

Alexis Ayala nods, "Then maybe when he's had some time to think, he'll apologize for treating me as an inferior person."

Alexis Ayala says, "He was upset because he was thinking of himself. He can continue to do so, but if he expects me to treat him any different for it, he's dead wrong."

Alexis Ayala lifts the shotgun, sighting in for the target, pump...

COMBAT: Alexis Ayala attacks Target with Mossberg 500 Shotgun and hits!

Angelica shrugs a little bit. "I just feel bad because he's overall been nice to me, and I didn't want to upset him."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and hits!

Alexis Ayala nods, "Well, you weren't un-nice to him Angelica, I made a joke, you laughed, it's not a big deal, and he was being too sensitive about it."

Alexis Ayala says, "I don't' think you should apologize to him, I think he should apologize to you."

Angelica sighs a little bit and shakes her head. "I'm more concerned about keeping sanity in the camp, than I am about anything else. Infighting could cause a problem..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "If something as insignificant as that is going to upset him this much, he's got bigger problems Angelica." she says, pumping, and firing the shotgun again.

COMBAT: Alexis Ayala attacks Target with Mossberg 500 Shotgun and hits!

Angelica sighs and shakes her head. "Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't." She sights again. "Either way, It's a matter of camp stability for me, not standing up on pride or anything else to expect one from him."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and Misses!

Alexis Ayala nods, "But that's my point, if something like this gets to him that much, what happens when it's actually important?"

Angelica sighs a little bit, and shakes her head. "If it's actually important, he won't get upset. It's just little social things, I'm guessing."

Alexis Ayala hmms, and nods slowly, "Then I think he has a few personal issues to take care, he definitely overreacted."

Angelica sighs a little and shakes her head. "That, or he was expecting something different. Not everyone operates under the same manners and social custom, so..."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Visitor Laser Sidearm and hits!

Alexis Ayala nods softly, "But reacting the way he did to someone laughing?" she shakes her head, "That was over the top."

Alexis Ayala pumps, lifts the shotgun, sights the target, and fires

COMBAT: Alexis Ayala attacks Target with Mossberg 500 Shotgun and hits!

Angelica shrugs a little bit, and sights again, putting her sidearm away, and pulling out the small pistol. "Maybe."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Glock 17A 9 mm Pistol and hits!

Alexis Ayala hmms, "You feeling any better?"

Angelica hmms a little bit, sighting the pistol again, and firing. "Not sure yet."

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Glock 17A 9 mm Pistol and Misses!

Alexis Ayala nods softly, and sighs, lowering the shotgun and reloading it again.

Angelica sighs, and shakes her head slightly, sighting the pistol again.

COMBAT: Angelica attacks Target with Glock 17A 9 mm Pistol and hits!

Alexis Ayala breathes slowly, "I'm sorry that all happened Angelica...guess I'm not a lady after all..." she says, heading towards the front yard.

Angelica sighs a little and shakes her head. "It's not your fault..."

Alexis Ayala nods, "I know..." she says softly, heading towards the barn, but she turns to say, "Feel better, okay?" she says, turning towards the yard once more.

Angelica nods a little. "All right."
