Title: Tender yet Bitter...
Location: Maxwell Ranch
Synopsis: A little bit of kitchen talk, a little bit of girlfriends reunited, and a little bit of heavy discussion...
Heather O'Leary steps out of a cab, at the end of the Driveway. She pays the driver, and starts walking very slowly up the House.
Elizabeth Maxwell glances up from working on things at the house, at the cab stopping, blinking slightly and slipping for it.
Heather O'Leary's arm is bandaged and stitched from a Sword slice... the sword that did the slicing is sheathed, in her hand, and she is carrying a large bag, with other various things in it. She doesn't seem, at the moment, to notice Elizabeth.
Elizabeth Maxwell blinks at the bandaged arm, running for Heather quickly and frowning. "honey? Is that you?"
Heather O'Leary nods slightly, blinking at Elizabeth, "Yeah... Bates kept me there overnight, going over procedures and such, after my 'interview'... If I didn't know better, I'd think he set it up so that Chiang would cause a problem, and I would have to kill him..." She sighs. "And of course, after a night of changing all the Security Information, so if Chiang had told anyone information that would get them in, it is outdated, and a day of watching Bates' back, and interviewing a bunch of Security Personnel, I finally get to come home..."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs and runs up, looking at the arm. "Dammit.... I asked you if you were all right... What happened?" She frowns at the arm. "Interviewing security personnel, huh?"
Heather O'Leary looks at her arm, "No... that was Chiang..." She holds up the Sheathed Katana, "With this... Want a Sword dear? I'd have to teach you how to use it, but..." She shrugs.
Elizabeth Maxwell winces a little bit and hugs tightly. "Er... maybe sometime later... is your arm all right? Oh honey..." She hugs tightly.
Heather O'Leary nods, "It's been stitched up... It's fine..." She leans against Liz, and says softly, "And I think the money issue we were talking about, might be over. Bates is paying me 6 figures a year..."
Elizabeth Maxwell blinks a little at that and hugs tightly, stroking your hair. "Wow..." she frowns again and wraps her arm around. "I suppose you'll have to go through all the security staff... anyone outright walk off from not being promoted into the position?"
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "Not for that, but 5 Resistance Members quit... and accused me of being a sellout." She smirks, "Little do they know that Bates can pay me a million a year, if he wanted, and I wouldn't be 'his'."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs a little at that, holding you up to her and starting for the house again. "Oh honey... I'm sorry... someone probably needs to talk to them, then... though if they come back, I suppose someone will get suspicious..." She gently guides for the house then. "Come on honey, you need to get into bed..."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "What I need, is something to eat."
Elizabeth Maxwell hugs tightly. "All right, honey..." She keeps guiding for the house. "I can imagine you're starving... I waited up for you all night, wondering where you were..."
Heather O'Leary closes her eyes, "I couldn't leave... and making a call out here would have... been bad. Although Bates knows I won't be in the City much... He knows I have a ranch out here...."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs and hugs. "Won't be in the city much when you're not at work, you mean." She snuggles softly. "Come on, honey... lets get inside..." She kisses your head. "I'm just glad you're safe. I was about to go back into town to see if I had to break you out."
Heather O'Leary says softly, "Well, it is not like you can't come see me.... I even have an office."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit at that. "I didn't know you were safe at the time. I'd be worried they had a picture of me anyway, I'd have to wear a disguise of some kind to go in there..."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "Bates has no clue what you look like. I've checked all the files I could find with your name on it, or mentioned Starchild..."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little bit and raises her eyebrows. "Doesn't know, huh? Interesting..." She snuggles gently. "In that case, I might just come and do that, to make certain once in a while. They get you a pass to get in and out of the city, as one of his employees?"
Heather O'Leary chuckles, "Well, yes... It's called, I give the Police Cheif and the Sheriff their orders. Ryan won't like it... but I can keep his cover safe.... As well as Julie's."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little bit at that, smiling. "Hmm... sounds nice." She laughs and rolls her eyes. "Lets go inside, honey..." She hugs tightly. "We can talk more while you're getting food."
Heather O'Leary nods, "Sounds like a plan... Than I think I need a shower." She picks up the bag, one might be curious what is in it, "Anything good to eat around here? Or do I need to cook something?"
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and kisses, blinking at the bag. "I'll fix you something, honey... so what you bring home with you?"
Heather O'Leary looks at the bag, "Hmm... Oh... Some Power Packs for the Weapons, and enough 'Official Provisional LA Government' Letter head to make certain that, for awhile, that there won't be problems for anyone getting in and out of the City...."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and snuggles happily. "Sounds nice..." She snuggles softly. "So what all you having to do when you go back?"
Heather O'Leary sighs, as she walks, "Hire a few new Security types, than start searching for the 'Leak'."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs and rolls her eyes. "Hmm... hiring a few more, huh?" She walks you for the door, and opens it for you. "Interesting..."
Elizabeth Maxwell hugs tightly, trying to guide you towards a seat before heading to the fridge.
Heather O'Leary drops her bag to the floor, and collapses into one of the chairs. "Interesting? Why do you say that? It means I have to test them in Hand to Hand, and see how they shoot... Long hours, sore muscles, and a long car ride, or drive, at the end of the day."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little at that and shakes her head. "Depending who they know and don't know. Maybe you could make it a little easier by taking at least one or two people you already know..." She grins, digging in and pulling out a slab of meat, and getting a frying pan for it, setting it on to fry quickly.
Heather O'Leary arches an eyebrow, "Who do you have in mind?"
Elizabeth Maxwell smiles and shrugs a little bit, frying the meat. "Well, who around here is decent with hand to hand and weapons?" She considers. "Depending on who they know, and who they suspect..." She flips the steak over once, salting it some.
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Well, Tyler and Donovan are out..." She looks thoughtful, "I could ask Alexis...." She smiles slightly, cause she *knows* who Elizabeth is speaking of, but with a twinkle in her eye, she says, "Other than that?"
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little, and flips the steak again. "So where all were some of the departures, or any other spots needing filling? One guarding the computers should know something about them, yes? Or are you looking for a personal lackey as well?" She laughs a little bit more.
Heather O'Leary smirks, "Well, I do need someone to be my Secretary, and Of the 5 Departures, 3 were just the hulking brute type, that guards the doors... 1 was in charge of keeping an eye on the Scientists, and the last, worked in the Security Office, maintaining the Computers and Surveillance Equipment."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little and nods. "Oooh, your secretary, huh? That have a separate office? Or in there to take your notes right there with you?" She grins a little, and hmms. "How many would be in the security office, just the one monitoring the computers and surveillance stuff?"
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "Secretary sits at her desk, outside my office, and the Security Office normally has 4 people in it, so they can watch all the Screens."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little and nods at that. "I guess I'm just a little worried about being anywhere that I could be watched consistently..." She considers a bit. "And haven't the visitors poked their noses into there before? If I were guarding a door, unless I wear a heavy disguise, I might get recognized."
Heather O'Leary arches an eyebrow, "Who said anything about you working for me?" She grins, "You don't have any experience, now do you love? Besides, I might try and take you into my office for... discipline, too often..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit at that. "Well, aren't you the one doing the hiring? They don't have to know that. And under a fake name like I'd need, well, it's easy enough to claim I did...."
Heather O'Leary chuckles, "And the second problem? I'd have you under my desk all day... We'd never get any work done.... Plus, think about the Sexual Harassment problems." She winks
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs and rolls her eyes. "Well, if your office isn't watched, and I was out just enough to see anyone coming to visit you, what would it matter that I was under your desk most of the day?" She laughs a little more, and brings the steak over, setting it onto a plate for you, and getting you silverware. "What you want to drink, honey?"
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Anything, so long as it has caffeine... or is wet. No Alcohol though, I'd fall asleep before eating..." She cuts her steak, and takes a bite, not waiting much. After she swallows she says, "Are you sure we both dare be off the ranch?" She pauses, "That would leave Tyler or Donovan to make sure everything got done, and I'm not sure Tyler is the right person for that job..." She shrugs, "Mind you, I've told Bates that I will have three days off a week, and only work 4...."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms and nods. "Well, that sounds good enough, then. And your secretary might not need to be around when you weren't, anyway..." she smiles a little. "At least not usually." She ponders that a bit. "I'm sure Tyler can think of a 'creative' way to get someone to do their share of the work, anyway."
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Probably not... As for Tyler..." She shrugs, and starts eating more, "How about a Dew... That has enough caffeine to keep me moving for a bit.
Elizabeth Maxwell grabs a couple bottles of dew, and walks one over, setting it before Heather. "Here you are, honey..." She settles into another seat. "At any rate, the big trick is that Julie couldn't find out until it was too late and would look suspicious to change. Otherwise she'll almost certainly claim it's 'too dangerous'."
Heather O'Leary sighs, and takes a long drink, than says softly, "I won't say I think it is 'too' dangerous... It is Dangerous, if Diana ever catches you there, and she sees through the disguises..."
Elizabeth Maxwell shrugs. "If I'm working as your secretary, I wouldn't think she'd ever see me. She's usually there to pester Bates."
Heather O'Leary sighs, "And you don't think she will come see me when she learns of my job?"
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little bit. "Suppose she might, at that. You're high on her wanted list, I'm sure..."
Heather O'Leary nods, "I can only imagine...well, actually, I'll get to hear first hand, what she says to Bates when she talks to him about it..." She smiles, "That ought to be interesting."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and nods. "That could be /really/ interesting, and I'll certainly want to watch." She grins a little bit.
Heather O'Leary frowns, "Well, as my Secretary, you wouldn't be in Bates' Office for that meeting, although, you might, the first time she showed up to talk to me... I'm sure she will try to get me to slip up..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit. "Don't the computers in the secretary's office and the head of security's office both have access to the surveillance equipment? I'd think they'd have a camera in there /because/ she goes in there with multiple guards."
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "It is why I am supposed to be there, or someone I hand pick to take it, when I am busy." She shrugs, "And if there is a camera in there, I haven't learned of it... yet."
Heather O'Leary hasn't really looked yet, but she was too tired to work any longer.
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little and nods. "Damn." she smiles a little and snuggles gently. "Oh well. Still means I'd need a disguise, but I can probably swing that easily enough."
Heather O'Leary nods very slightly. "I still am not sure I think you working there is a good idea, Love..." She bites her lip, not wanting to start a fight, "Maybe if Tyler, or Donovan approve of the idea? I... I know you don't want to ask Julie... but I don't think *we* should be deciding this on our own. I only said yes, because Tyler and Julie seemed to want me to."
Elizabeth Maxwell pokes a little bit. "I don't want to ask /any/ of them, quite honestly. Flatly, if they're not going to acknowledge me as old enough to make my own decisions, well, the government in the dust zone is willing to. Which makes it sound tempting to be up there more often. Away from them treating me like I'm still the tiny little baby they delivered during the first war."
Heather O'Leary closes her eyes, "Liz... you hold, in your body, the information Diana needs to make the Red Dust useless...."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs. "So I might as well get used to not being allowed to do things, for the protection of everyone else, yes?"
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "I didn't say that. You have done a lot more things, dangerous things, than many of the Resistance... But without a GOOD Disguise, working at Science Frontiers, where Diana, the Visitor that knows you best, is at, normally every 4 or 5 days... is asking for trouble...." She sighs, "I'm not trying to keep you from doing dangerous things, but foolish things? Those I'd like to keep you from doing... I am only working there, because after I got there, it seemed right... if only to protect Julie, and everyone else..."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs a little bit. "Why don't you just make sure it stays secure forever? Shoot me and burn the body."
Elizabeth Maxwell grumbles very slightly. "Dangerous things happen. If they tried doing /anything/ in there, the guards would all open up, would they not?"
Heather O'Leary sighs, "Elizabeth..." She shakes her head, and shrugs, "If they followed my orders, yes... If Bates ordered them to stop? They'd probably listen to Bates." She sighs, "I'm not going to stop you from trying, and I will probably, most likely in a fit of love, hire you, but... the others are going to kill us for making this decision without them..."
Elizabeth Maxwell shrugs a little bit. "I wouldn't stop regardless of what Bates said. Would you?" She shakes her head. "At any rate, if you really don't want me to do it, I won't. It runs the same risk you just mentioned, every time I try to sneak into the city. Because they know what I look like.
Heather O'Leary asks softly, "Liz'beth, if you want to do it, I'll do it..."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs and slumps back in her seat. "I just want to be around you, mostly. When you start saying what you did about it, I get worried that people are going to start saying it about anything else I'm currently allowed to do, as well. Afraid they're going to try clamping down and keep me from doing anything. I live in running fear of that every /day/..."
Heather O'Leary chuckles, "Hell, Tyler wouldn't let me keep you out of a couple missions... He insisted you go, because you are so damned good at Killing Lizards..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit at that. "Well, that's Tyler. Donovan acknowledges that I'm competent as well. The only one I truly worry about in that arena /is/ Julie. And her influence on Donovan."
Heather O'Leary shrugs slightly, "I'll work on Julie... but do me a favor? Try to see her side, a little. If I can get her to lay off on the attempts to stop you from going on missions, maybe you can try to not insist on doing every dangerous thing that shows up...?" She of course, realizes she'll have to try and do the same thing.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs a little bit and shakes her head. "It isn't like you don't try yourself. And I'm trying to stay attached to you. That way you can still claim to be protecting me, anyway." she grins and rolls her eyes a little. "I'll be safe, honey..." She kisses gently. "As for you, well..." She sniffs your clothes a little bit.
Heather O'Leary nods slightly, "I know... I need to try and not volunteer for every mission that comes up, but I did stay home from Ojai, until you guys needed picked up." She winks, and ughs at the sniffing, "I know, I know, I stink..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit at that. "Ojai was supposed to be an easy mission. Just that it got botched up."
Heather O'Leary finishes her steak, and leans back, slowly drinking the Dew. "That is always the case. Ojai, El Paso... all should have been easy..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs and shrugs a little bit. "Weird things happen." She shakes her head a little bit. "Funny thing is that the most potentially dangerous mission I've ever been on actually did wind up being easy. And I never heard about you getting chewed out, so I'm assuming that Julie didn't hear? About the most potentially dangerous mission I was ever taken on?"
Heather O'Leary smirks, "I never told her you went up to the Mothership to get Briggs, no."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit and tickles. "So you do realize what the most dangerous thing I've ever done was. Good girl." She kisses happily and grins. "Still, did wind up being a pretty easy mission..." She laughs a bit.
Heather O'Leary nods, "Liz, trust me, I hated every minute of that mission, knowing I was leading you... well, following you, to your potential doom, if we were discovered.."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and rolls her eyes. "Still, you needed me. If I hadn't been there, it was a certain suicide run."
Heather O'Leary nods, "Yeah..." She shrugs, "Still I was scared every minute of it."
Elizabeth Maxwell snuggles tightly and scritches. "I'm sure you were, honey... You don't think I was scared as well? Marching right into the detention block..." She rolls her eyes again. "Well, I won't do that whole line, no."
Heather O'Leary grins, "You came in here, didn't you have a plan for getting out?"
Heather O'Leary says, "Or... Isn't my idea of fun?"
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit and shrugs. "Wasn't it 'marching right into the detention block is not what I had in mind', after Luke mentioned the previous comment about wanting to take them all on."
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Haven't seen Star Wars in a while..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and shrugs. "Neither have I, really." she kisses gently. "Feeling a little better now?"
Heather O'Leary nods, "Still tired, but not ready to collapse into bed, that is a pretty good bet." She looks around, to see if there is cake, or brownies. Heather, wanting Dessert? Is the sky falling?
Elizabeth Maxwell snuggles tightly. "What you looking for? Still hungry?" She hurries up to the fridge, and gets out some leftover marble cake, fixing some for the microwave. "Here..."
Heather O'Leary chuckles, "You reading my mind, Love?" She sighs, "And yes, Desert sounds lovely..."
Elizabeth Maxwell smiles and heats it up. "Only in the interest of making sure to get you what you wanted, since you were looking around like that." She grins and pulls it from the microwave, digging into the freezer. "Want a little ice cream on top, or no?"
Heather O'Leary smirks, "Trying to fatten me up?"
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little. "As little as you eat, it won't fatten you up anyway. Asides, if you're putting on a show of doing Bates' leg work, you'll be getting plenty of exercise to keep you thin."
Elizabeth Maxwell snuggles a little and nods. "I hope so..." She considers a little bit. "Couldn't everyone you kill 'vanish' without a trace?" She ponders. "get them out of town, to an out of the way spot in the dust zone, and..." She considers.
Heather O'Leary nods, "IF I have someone I can trust to get them out, to fly in, and take them..."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little bit. "Hmm... If we could stash a fighter near town, I could be doing that..."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "Wouldn't look right, if you are my Secretary, to be out of the office every time I go 'kill' someone."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little and nods at that. "Suppose not...." She considers a bit. "I'd be having to cover anyway, telling anyone who came in that you were out for the moment."
Heather O'Leary winks, "Or you could just, if you want to work there, and not be my Secretary, be on my... goon squad? Or you could fly in, when I needed to have some 'rescued'.... And than, Julie wouldn't kill us." She shrugs, "Any of them would work."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little. "Well, you should always keep a goon from your squad in your office." She grins. "that would keep me closer anyway."
Heather O'Leary smirks, "Maybe...."
Elizabeth Maxwell grins a little bit. "I was considering asking to be mostly your personal lackey in the room with you anyway...." She grins a little. "Just was afraid it might look too suspicious. Which is why I mentioned a more 'normal' position."
Elizabeth Maxwell grins a little more. "Besides, which would pay more?"
Heather O'Leary looks thoughtful, "Well, I think the 'Personal lackey' would. Neither is that high of a paying job, compared to mine, or Julie's 6 figure salary, but the Secretary is like... 50K a year, and I am sure my Personal Goon/Lackey would be 75K..."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little and nods. "Well, if it gets me into your office, the latter sounds good enough then. Not like either of us will be there that long anyway, depending on how things go... Less work being your goon, anyway."
Heather O'Leary nods, "The problem is, Bates doesn't let his Security Heads just retire, or quit. They end up Dead, or Missing...."
Elizabeth Maxwell mmmhmms. "Well, we'll work on that... as soon as it comes up..." She ponders a bit. "that danger is already there, anyway. I suppose your lackey/associate would probably vanish as well, if she were too close, though..." She hmms a little bit.
Heather O'Leary nods, "Probably... Chiang never let anyone get that close... luckily for me. I took Chiang fairly easily, but if he had someone around to help him, it would have been trouble."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little bit. "Still, we'll figure a way out of there, anyway. Don't worry about that." She hmms. "I'm sure your goon might get sent to do something once in a while, anyway, without you. And it wouldn't look suspicious for us to get to work together, when I was your personal guard..."]
Heather O'Leary nods, "I don't know Love. I am still worried about you working there, but I'll let you pick the job you want... You let me know." For now... that cake and ice cream sounds *really* good." She winks.
Elizabeth Maxwell smiles and drops ice cream onto the cake, setting it in front. "Here you go, honey..."
Heather O'Leary picks up a fork, and begins to devour the Empty calories of the cake and ice cream, a guilty smile on her face.
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little at that, smiling. "I bet if my disguise was good enough, not even Julie would recognize me."
Heather O'Leary nods, "At least, until you spoke. I can change my accent, but not how I sound..."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little bit... "Yeah... I can't change how I sound, or fake an accent, without some problem getting the words out right..." She sighs a little bit.
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Once you are hired, Julie will just have to accept it."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little bit. "Once I'm hired there's nothing she can really do about it..." She considers a bit and smiles again, rubbing you softly. "Poor dear..." She scritches your hair.
Heather O'Leary arches an eyebrow, "Why? Because I will have Julie yelling at me, or because I have to deal with Mr. Shithead?" She decides it best not to mention that Bates was leering at her.
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and scritches. "Oh, both, and then some. I'm worried about your condition tonight, as well... Julie will cool down soon enough... I just won't talk very much, and simply nod to her when she goes in to see you, if I took the secretary job..." She considers. "That could get interesting... trying to hide from Julie nearly as much as from the enemy, so you don't get yelled at."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "I can hold my own against dear Julie..." She pauses, "Especially considering she won't do it at work..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit and nods. "get the feeling we might be staying in town more than initial figuring, possibly..." She grins. "At an address she doesn't know about." She rolls her eyes. "Not that I'd want to do that either, but..."
Heather O'Leary shakes her head, "No, I'll be out here every night... Even if I have to convince Bates to give me a Chopper...."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little and nods. "Oh..." She hms then. "Not that Julie is always out here, really... she's in town enough that we could probably avoid it being out here, some of the time."
Heather O'Leary shrugs, slightly, "I called a bank in town... to get the pumping machine loan... Can be done." A very abrupt subject change, but than, the way her mind is working tonight, it might just have popped in, for an odd reason, and jumped out.
Elizabeth Maxwell snuggles tightly. "Well, with the new job you can list, I suppose they're happy to float a loan for it. Cause they know you can pay it back. That or they're afraid of what might happen if they don't."
Heather O'Leary chuckles, "Well, I'm sure it is a little of both... The money will hit my new account tomorrow... I had to get something set up to handle the Paychecks from Bates, or risk not getting the money..."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a bit and nods. "I suppose I'd have to do that as well, under the fake name. Could probably withdraw some of it and put it up north under my actual name, when we were making shopping runs or such..."
Heather O'Leary nods slightly, "I can get you some forged papers, just let me know what name you want to use..."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit. "I'm sure between you and I, we can come up with something creative. Though it can't be entirely creative/humorous, without being suspect... hm."
Heather O'Leary nods slightly, "Something simple, that is not going to draw attention to you..." She looks at Liz, and says, "Jennifer Cooke?"
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little at that. "Maybe... could work. Sounds nice and boring. Instead of sounding like it came out of a phone prank or something..."
Heather O'Leary nods, "I'll get them for you, first thing tomorrow... well, Tuesday, I told Bates to let me have 24 hours to get things set up around here, hire some hands or something... So, Tuesday I go back."
Elizabeth Maxwell nods a little and smiles. "Sounds good, then..." she grins a little. "So when would you be doing the 'interviews' for positions?"
Heather O'Leary looks thoughtful, "Thursday, most likely."
Elizabeth Maxwell hmms a little and nods, smiling. "Oh..." She scritches your hair a bit then. "Okay."
Heather O'Leary finishes her cake and ice cream, and leans back again. She lets her head rest on the back of the chair, and her eyes close, while she considers everything going on.
Elizabeth Maxwell smiles and massages very gently, as you lean back, worrying about your condition. She kisses your neck gently as well, as she rubs your shoulders, and lower.
Heather O'Leary mmmms softly, "Ok, you are hired, as long as you do that whenever I need it."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little. "If your office has a couch, I could be doing more than this, actually..."
Heather O'Leary smirks, "Except for the problem that Bates will walk in whenever he wants... Although, the desk does have enough room for you to be underneath there, between my feet, comfortably." She winks.
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs and tickles a little bit. "Suppose so..." She ponders a little bit. "If I was trying to sense someone coming to the door, I'd be distracted from massaging as well. Hmm." She rolls her eyes.
Heather O'Leary chuckles, and shrugs, "Not a big deal..."
Elizabeth Maxwell snuggles tightly and scritches. "Oh well. If you really want me under your desk, I'll need to wear something that won't cause problems when I have contort myself into odd shapes to get beneath it."
Heather O'Leary grins, than it fades, "Yeah... Bates said I should wear this Leather and Silk combination alot..." She pauses, than says, "I wonder if I am reading more into it than I should, but... It almost felt like he was trying to hit on me."
Juliet Parrish arrives from Dining Room.
Elizabeth Maxwell bites her lip a little at that, frowning and scritching gently. "Well, you're a pretty girl... I should be a lot more jealous and worried about other people noticing, than I am..." she kisses happily.
Heather O'Leary returns the kiss, briefly, than shrugs, "Well, He'd damn well better keep his freaking hands to himself. I'll be fired the first time he tries to cop a feel, and I knock his testicles into his throat..."
"I for one," Julie offers as she steps into the kitchen, still in her light coat, "am glad Bates has someone else his attention can be split with."
Elizabeth Maxwell glances up as Julie comes in, and nods a little bit. "Yeah, now I can sit here stewing and getting as jealous as Mike gets thinking Bates is pawing you, thinking he's pawing Heather."
Heather O'Leary mutters, "You would..."
Juliet Parrish shrugs slightly at Heather, frowning gently. "I could lie and say it's disappointing if you want." she mutters, moving over to the fridge.
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "How about we just both hit him for leering at us, and than, he'll stop all together?" If he doesn't fire them, than maybe, kill them, but hey, that is the price one pays to avoid leering.
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs a little bit and rolls her eyes at the two. "Yeah..." she shakes her head. "Have fun being hunted when he orders the police and sheriff's department out after you."
"I'm past the leering stage, Heather. Seems I'm past the leering stage with everyone." Juliet retorts softly, opening the icebox and staring into it without actually withdrawing anything.
Heather O'Leary arches an eyebrow, "Something wrong, Julie?"
Elizabeth Maxwell blinks a little at Julie and frowns slightly.
Juliet Parrish shakes her head slowly, before shutting the door without taking anything out. "Doesn't matter." she returns, looking at the two. "Nothing worth worrying about."
Heather O'Leary frowns slightly, and shrugs. She is not about to force anything out of the doc, at the moment
Elizabeth Maxwell frowns more deeply as well, and sighs a little bit, shaking her head and shrugging. "Too late for that, we're already worrying about it." She raises her eyebrows a little.
Juliet Parrish shrugs faintly. "Let's just say things didn't go quite according to plan last night, and...well, things worked out. It's okay, Liz, I just...didn't sleep well."
Heather O'Leary arches an eyebrow, "Chiang is dead... And at least Bates didn't have you up all night, going over Security Procedures. By the way, Julie, here is your new Access Card. Bates doesn't know it, but you just got full access to the Computers, and every Room in Science-Frontiers." She holds out a new Card to Julie.
Juliet Parrish nods mutely, reaching for the card. "He's dead, yes," she agrees quietly. Now if only nightmares compounded by last night were dead too. Damn you Diana!
Elizabeth Maxwell frowns a little at Heather a little bit, making note to ask later on, and hmming softly at the whole things. "Speaking of that, Heather, you haven't exactly slept yet either. Or showered, remember."
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "I know Liz'Beth..."
Juliet Parrish looks between the two, and manages to force a smile. "Why don't you take her to do just that, Liz?"
Elizabeth Maxwell smiles and shrugs. "Well, Heather's a big girl, I assume she'll go shower and sleep when she wants to, won't she?" She scritches Heather's hair a little bit.
Heather O'Leary nods slightly, "And besides, standing up at the moment, seems difficult..." She pauses, "Julie.. Other than Chiang, was there anyone following you, from Security? I can get them to stop, if you want..." at least 'til Bates decides to fire her too.
"I don't know. But...don't focus too much attention on me. I can handle myself, I've managed to so far. you focus on keeping Bates happy with your performance," Julie instructs quietly, leaning against the counter and crossing her arms, "And getting information if you can."
Heather O'Leary smiles, "My performance, and my Body?" She winks at Julie, "I am pretty sure I have his attention on that...."
Elizabeth Maxwell winces a little at that, and shivers slightly, snuggling Heather a bit tighter, at the thought of it.
Juliet Parrish simply shoots Heather a look before shaking her head a bit. "He's a pig, anything with two breasts, a heartbeat, and an ass has his attention, Heather.
Heather O'Leary sighs, than says, "If not to help your cover, why did you *want* me at Science-Frontiers Julie? If you don't want me to keep your cover safe, why insist I take the Interview, and Tyler was pretty good at indicating he wanted me to take the job. I think I deserve to know why you guys want me there... I mean, there are easier ways to get rid of me..."
"I don't know what Ham wanted, but I wanted Chiang gone. That's all. I mean, I feel safer with you there, but. I don't want you to be there because you feel you -have- to be there. You need to be where you think you can be of the most use," Juliet returns, studying Heather.
Elizabeth Maxwell glances down at Heather a little bit and bites her lip slightly, stroking the girl's hair softly.
Heather O'Leary shrugs slightly, "That simply depends. With me working there, I can't do much on my work days around here. However, I can make your life easier, by finding a leak, one that works for Diana, but claim they work for us... But, if you only wanted Chiang gone, there were a hell of a lot easier ways than setting me up in an interview that could have been a trap."
Juliet Parrish simply stares at Heather, not responding, letting the woman get whatever she's thinking out of her system. She doesn't move, just...listening. Maddening, isn't it?
Heather O'Leary's eyes narrow at Julie, and she returns the stare, "So... I guess that silence means I don't rate your telling me. I see." She stands up, puts her plate in the sink, and throws away the empty bottle of soda. "Thanks for the confidence. Just because Bates KISSED you, and you needed something to distract him... Next time, if you TELL me what happened, and why you want me around to cover you... I'd be a touch happier." Sure, she's heard the rumors, and since she could, checked the Tapes, and sure enough, she saw Julie and Bates Kiss, Twice.
Elizabeth Maxwell frowns a little bit at Heather and at Julie, mostly at Julie. She sighs then, watching Heather, and simply shakes her head.
Juliet Parrish cringes slightly, her jaw clenching, and she lowers her eyes to the floor for a long minute. She still doesn't answer. What can she say? Ham suggested the plan as it stood? She didn't know why. "Bates was going to contact you anyway, and did from what I heard. I don't know what the plan is, Heather. I'm sorry. I'm doing the best I can...I'm sorry I don't meet your standards. Do what you want. Quit, stay, shoot Bates, shoot me...whatever makes you happy." A sigh, and she pushes off the counter, heading towards the doors. "Have a good night."
Heather O'Leary moves to Julie, "I didn't say that. I just want to know why things are going the way they are, and what *you* wanted me to do. If there isn't anything, that is fine.... And you know damned well I won't shoot anyone, without reason. I'm sorry I mentioned the kiss.. but..." She closes her eyes, "It is so damned confusing being there, when three days ago, I'd be shot just for looking at Science Frontiers."
Juliet Parrish holds up her hand as she moves towards the door, shaking her head. "I don't know, Heather. I don't know much of anything anymore...you try and figure Bates and Tyler out. When you do, let me know..." She continues towards the door, not even looking at the other woman. How many other people can she make hate her at the ranch. Donovan with the kiss, Heather after last night...who's next?
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs just a little bit and glances to Heather, walking over to her again, and standing right up next to her. "Then we just need to poke Tyler till we find out, then we might know at least part of what his intention for wanting you in the job is. Outside of messing up security for things happening in town, which would almost certainly get you shot at..."
Heather O'Leary reaches for Julie's arm, "All right, something is really wrong, and I want to know what is going on. Trust us to help you, let us in to your world, Julie. Please?" She seems more concerned than angry, actually, all concerned.
Juliet Parrish instinctively pulls her arm away, the nightmares, and the memory of Chiang doing the same thing last night, causing her skin to crawl as she twists. She inhales sharply before sighing. "I'm fine. I just need some rest."
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs a little at Julie, shaking her head, and walking back away from the conversation a little bit.
Heather O'Leary says simply, "Bullshit. Julie, I've had some pretty horrible things done to my mind... Done to me in my mind. I saw how last night was.... I can imagine what Chiang did to you..." She glances at Liz, and invites her, with a simple look, to pull up her memories, and look it over. She than looks at Julie, "Please. You need more than Rest."
Juliet Parrish snorts softly, though the amusement in her tone is more derisive than anything else. "It isn't so bad...at least it wasn't Mike this time." What!?
Elizabeth Maxwell winces at the look from Heather, shivering slightly at it, and moving back to her, wrapping arms around her again. "Heather isn't kidding, Julie... When I was trying to glue her back together before New York, I wound up seeing most of what was done. They went damned heavy on the sex..." She pauses at the last comment.
Heather O'Leary bites her lip, and pauses for a second, "Diana used Donovan... on you?"
Juliet Parrish closes her eyes, looking physically pained for an instant, before she shakes her head. "Heather, you stink...you need a shower," she mutters, trying her damnedest to infuse even a modicum of lightness into her tone.
Heather O'Leary smirks, "I know I do... but stop changing the subject...." She pauses, "If Diana did that... I know a way to help you get over it..."
Elizabeth Maxwell bites her lip and says nothing, just hugging Heather tightly.
"Doesn't much matter now what Diana did or didn't do. Thanks to my own stupidity, I have actual memories to live with." Juliet shrugs, half-heartedly, as she looks between the pair. She won't be telling Mike about last night, either, if he despises her already for the kiss Heather previously mentioned.
Heather O'Leary says softly, "The memories can be gotten rid of... Mine were, for awhile..."
Elizabeth Maxwell shakes her head at Heather. "The longer ago it was, the harder it is to run the process, as well..." she frowns further at the comment about 'actual memories', and bites her lip.
Juliet Parrish looks over at Liz at the clarification, and smirks. "Surprise surprise..." She shakes her head slowly.
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Still possible. Something to break the nightmares. It worked for me... Even after getting all the memories of Willie Raping me... basically every male here raping me, while the women watched, and than, later, of you killing by baby. I can sleep without nightmares now... It might help you, Julie."
"The Visitor's seem to have a special affinity with rape," Juliet agrees softly, adding a gentle shrug as she leans against the wall, heavily. Besides, now it's not just Mike. Not just 'Diana implants." She's just being all pessimistic, isn't she?
Heather O'Leary shrugs slightly, "But Chiang is dead. If you want to see his body... you'll have to go into the LaBrae Tar Pits... but somewhere in there, his Body rests, never to be seen again."
Elizabeth Maxwell hugs Heather tightly again and shivers slightly, for one moment. Then she frowns a little more at Julie's comments, and the idea of more problems.
"I know he's dead. And I know that Mike would never hurt me, let alone rape me." Juliet points out softly. "And I think you always knew I'd never kill your child...but what we -know- doesn't always match what our minds tell us.
Heather O'Leary chuckles, "Than bitch at your mind... I do." She winks, trying to get Julie to lighten up, now that she spilled her own, deepest nightmare to Julie.
"If I bitched at my own mind, Heather, I'd be likely to do so in front of Bates without realizing it, and get myself killed. No, thanks, I'll...deal with it. I have for a long time, and I will for a long time to come." Juliet, ever the poster girl for a better tomorrow.
Heather O'Leary sighs, "Dammit Woman, do you have to be so freaking stubborn?" Pot calling the Kettle Black, ain't it?
Elizabeth Maxwell glances over at Julie, nodding a little in acknowledgement of the comment, then glancing at Heather, the beginnings of a very tiny smile there.
Juliet Parrish simply arches an eyebrow at Heather at her comment.
Heather O'Leary shrugs, "Sounded good."
Elizabeth Maxwell laughs just a little and shakes her head. "You're both stubborn, and both have had problems with your significant others for it, I'm quite certain."
Heather O'Leary smirks, "And you aren't. Liz'Beth?"
At the mention of significant others, Julie's smirk tightens before she manages a tense chuckle. "Right," is her only reply.
Heather O'Leary sighs at Julie, "Something wrong between you and Donovan?"
Elizabeth Maxwell tickles Heather. "I never said I wasn't. And I've had troubles with mine from it as well." She kisses Heather on the lips then.
Juliet Parrish looks away as Liz kisses Heather, her stomach knotting up as she sees the tender motion. "No, everything's great," she assures Heather. "I'm...going to bed, though. You two enjoy the evening..."
Heather O'Leary sighs softly, and her legs feel weak, "Well... On that note, I smell, and I had better get to sleep. She pats Julie's arm, and says, "If you need to talk, look for me tomorrow?" She heads to her room for a shower and sleep.
Elizabeth Maxwell sighs a little and shakes her head. "She and I have both been up too long... We'll both probably fall right to sleep. I'm sorry if seeing us kiss upset you, Julie..."
